The 2023 Rugby Europe Women's Sevens Conference was held in Belgrade from 9 to 10 June 2023. [1] The tournament consisted of two pool phases in the group stage with three pools of three and a knockout stage that was played for placement. [1]

Contents

Switzerland won the tournament and together with runners-up, Andorra, were promoted to next year's Trophy division. [2] [3] [4]

The Rugby Europe Sevens are a series of rugby sevens tournaments held by Rugby Europe. It was formerly known as the FIRA-AER Sevens until 2013, and the Sevens Grand Prix Series until 2021. Only one annual tournament existed prior to 2011, when Rugby Europe created a series of tournaments, following the model of the World Rugby Sevens Series. The Montenegro national rugby sevens team, known as the Wolves (Vukovi) plays in red and gold jerseys with red shorts, and their emblem is the double headed eagle while their logo is the wolf. Montenegro are currently in Conference 2 in Europe for rugby 7s having made their debut in 2014.

Rugby union in Montenegro is a minor but growing sport. The game has only recently been developed in the country since its independence in 2006. The governing body is the Montenegrin Rugby Union which was accepted as a member of Rugby Europe at the 2014 convention held in Split, Croatia. It is not yet affiliated with World Rugby but is applying for membership.

Qualifying for the 2019 Rugby World Cup for European Rugby began in September 2016, where 5 teams are competing for one direct qualification spot into the final tournament, and a further 26 teams competing, alongside the initial 5 teams, for a place in the Europe/Oceania play-off and or repechage.

The Poland women's national rugby sevens team represents Poland in rugby sevens. They compete in the Rugby Europe Women's Sevens.

The Israel women's national rugby sevens team represents Israel in rugby sevens. They compete in the Rugby Europe Women's Sevens regularly. Israel won the 2021 Rugby Europe Women's Sevens Conference in Belgrade.

The Austria women's national rugby sevens team competes in the Rugby Europe Women's Sevens Conference. They placed second at the 2017 Rugby Europe Women's Sevens Conference and were promoted, along with Norway to the 2018 Rugby Europe Women's Sevens Trophy. They placed 11th overall and were relegated to the Women's Sevens Conference for 2019.

The 2021 Rugby Europe Sevens Conference was the third tier tournament of Rugby Europe's 2021 sevens season. It was held in Belgrade, Serbia on 5–6 June 2021, with the top two advancing to the 2022 Sevens Trophy. As winner of the tournament, Bulgaria advances to Trophy tournament in 2021, with second placed Monaco.

The 2021 Rugby Europe Women's Sevens Conference was held in Belgrade from 4 to 6 June 2021, the tournament was a multi-pool phase competition. It was played in three phases, with the final ranking after pool phase 3. Israel won the tournament and Monaco made their international debut.

The 2022 Rugby Europe Women's Sevens Conference was held in Belgrade from 4 to 5 June 2022. The tournament is played in two phases, the group stage and the knockout stage for placement.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Premier Rugby Sevens</span> American rugby sevens competition

Premier Rugby Sevens (PR7s) is the top annual North American men's and women's rugby sevens competition. The competition follows a touring model and involves 16 teams competing against each other across the country. The league was founded in 2021 and is officially sanctioned by USA Rugby as the highest level of rugby sevens in the United States.
