The Holy Cross Crusaders women's basketball team is the women's basketball team that represents the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, Massachusetts. The team currently competes in the Patriot League. The Crusaders are currently coached by Maureen Magarity.^[2]

History

The Crusaders began play in 1974. They went 0–12, coached by Sharon Dupre in her only season. For their first six years (1974–1980), the Crusaders were in Division III, going 37–60 during that time. From 1980 to 1982, the Crusaders were in Division II, going 43–8 during their two season tenure before making the jump to Division I. The Crusaders joined the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference in 1983. In their seven season tenure, they won two conference tournaments. In 1990, the Crusaders joined the Patriot League. They have won the Patriot League women's basketball tournament 11 times, the most of any school in the League. The Crusaders are coached by Maureen Magarity.^[2]

The Patriot League is a collegiate athletic conference comprising private institutions of higher education and two United States service academies based in the Northeastern United States. Except for the Ivy League, it is the most selective group of higher education institutions in NCAA Division I, and has a very high student-athlete graduation rate for both the NCAA graduation success rate and the federal graduation rate.

Dave Paulsen was appointed the program's 19th head coach on March 28, 2023.

The Holy Cross Crusaders are the athletic teams representing the College of the Holy Cross. They compete in NCAA Division I, primarily as members of the Patriot League. In ice hockey, a sport not sponsored by the Patriot League for either sex, the Crusaders are members of two other leagues, with men competing in the Atlantic Hockey Association and women in Hockey East. The men's rowing team is part of the Eastern Association of Rowing Colleges. Maureen Elizabeth Magarity is an American women's basketball coach, and current head coach of the Holy Cross Crusaders women's basketball team. From 2010 to 2020, she coached for New Hampshire.

The Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Men's Basketball Coach of the Year is a basketball award given to the most outstanding men's basketball head coach in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference, as chosen by a panel of sports writers and broadcasters. The award was first given following the 1981–82 season, the first year of the conference's existence, to Bob Dukiet of Saint Peter's. Joe Mihalich of Niagara, Ted Fiore of Saint Peter's, and King Rice of Monmouth have won the most awards with three, while five other coaches have won the award twice.

The 2022–23 Holy Cross Crusaders women's basketball team represents the College of the Holy Cross during the 2022–23 NCAA Division I women's basketball season. The Crusaders, led by third year head coach Maureen Magarity, play their home games at the Hart Center and are members of the Patriot League.
