Sultan Ibraahim, Sri dhanmaru Veeru Mahaa radhun was Sultan of the Maldives briefly in 1398 and again from 1412 to 1420. He was the eldest son of Sultan Hassan I of the Maldives. He ruled the country for four months in 1398 before abdicating in favour of his uncle Hussain.

After the death of Sultan Isa in 1412, Ibrahim regained the throne and ruled the country for 8 years and 8 months until his death in 1420.

The history of the Maldives is intertwined with the history of the broader Indian subcontinent and the surrounding regions, comprising the areas of South Asia and Indian Ocean; and the modern nation consisting of 178 natural atolls, comprising 1194 islands. In 1411 and 1430, the Chinese admiral Zheng He bingchilling visited the Maldives. The Chinese also became the first country to establish a diplomatic office in the Maldives, when the Chinese nationalist government based in Taipei opened an embassy in Malé in 1966. This office has since been replaced by the embassy of the People's Republic of China.

As-Sulṭaan al-Ghaazee Muhammad Thakurufaanu al-A'uẓam or As-Sultan Ghazi Muhammad Bodu Thakurufaanu ruled over the Maldive Islands from 1573 to 1585. He is known for fighting the Portuguese who ruled over the Maldives from 1558–1573 after killing Sultan Ali VI in Malé. His victory is commemorated in the Maldives as Qaumee Dhuvas or National Day. He was also the first Maldivian King to form the Lashkaru.

Sumuvvul Ameer Mohamed Amin Dhoshimeynaa Kilegefaanu, popularly known as Mohamed Amin Didi, was a Maldivian politician. He served as the first president of the Maldives and as the head of government between January 1, 1953, and August 21, 1953. Amin Didi was also the principal of Majeedhiyya School from 1946 to 1953.

Sultan Muhammad Shamsuddeen Iskander III,, , son of Ibrahim Nooraddeen and Kakaage Don Goma, was the Sultan of the Maldives first from 7 May 1893 and then again from 1902.

Sultan Sir Hassan Nooraddeen Iskandar II, KCMG was Sultan of the Maldives from 1935 to 1943, a son of Sultan Muhammad Mueenudheen Kuda Bandaarain. Sultan Nooraddeen was born on 21 April 1887.

Sultan Muhammad Imaaduddeen V (1884–1920), son of Ibrahim Nooraddeen and Bodugaluge Didi of Machchangoalhi Ganduvaru, and also younger half-brother of Muhammad Shamsuddeen III, was the sultan of the Maldives from 1892 to 1893 for five months. He was 8 years old when he became the sultan, after the death of his father Sultan Ibrahim Nooraddeen. Despite having an older half-brother, Imaaduddeen V, was appointed as sultan by a decree of the Council of Ministers headed by Ibrahim Didi, brother-in-law to the late sultan Nooraddeen. Meanwhile, a vigorous protest was handed down to the Ceylon Governor in Colombo by Muhammed Didi, the brother of Kakaage Don Goma, one of the late Sultan Nooraddeen's wives highlighting that the Law of Succession in the Maldive Islands which supported lineal primogeniture has been breached and that his great-nephew Muhammed Shamsuddeen who was 14 and thus the eldest son of the late Sultan should be the legitimate heir to the throne. Five months later Imaaduddeen was deposed by Muhammad Shamsuddeen III as the Sultan of the Maldives. He died during his brother's reign.

Al-Sultan Abul Fath Jalaaluddin Omar Veeru Siri Abaarana Mahaa Radun was the Sultan of the Maldives from 1306 to 1341. He was the son of Sultan Salis. According to Moroccan traveller Ibn Battuta, his father was a Bengali and the founder of a new dynasty. Sultan Omar I ruled the country for 35 years until his death in 1341. He had a son named Ahmed Shihaabuddheen and two daughters Khadhijah and Raadhafathi, all of whom later became rulers of the Maldives. He was succeeded by his son Ahmed Shihaabuddheen.

Al-Sultan Dhinei Kalaminjaa Siri Fennaadheettha Mahaa Radun was the Sultan of Maldives from 1193 to 1199. He was the son of Fathahiriya Maavaa Kilege. He ruled the country for 7 years until his death in 1199. He was succeeded by his younger brother, Dhihei of Maldives.

Al-Sultan Mohammed I Sri Sundhura Abaarana Mahaaradhun was the Sultan of the Maldives from 1380 to 1385. He was the son of Kaeumani Kaulhanna Kilege and husband of his predecessor Raadhafathi. He ruled the country for 5 years until his death in 1385. He was succeeded by his daughter Dhaain. He is also known as Maakurathu Mohamed Rasgefaan or Mohamed of Maakurathu as he is from the island of Maakurathu in Raa Atoll of Maldives.

Osman I of Fehendhoo was the Sultan of the Maldives in 1388. He ruled the country for 6 months and 15 days. Sultan Osmaan was also the last sultan to ascend the throne of the Maldives from the Lunar Dynasty, ending the 227 years of Lunar Dynasty rule since the Maldives converted to Islam from Buddhism.

Sultan Hassan Al-Hilaaly I, Sri bavana Mahaa radhun was the first sultan to ascend the throne of Maldives from the Hilaalee dynasty by abolishing the dynasty which had ruled the Maldives for more than two centuries. He ascended the throne of The Maldives in 1388.

Sultan Hussain Al-Hilaaly I Sri loka veeru Mahaa radhun was the sultan of Maldives from 1398 to 1409. He was the son of Hilaaly Kalo and Golhaa vehi kanbulo and also a brother of Sultan Hassan I. He ruled the country for 10 years until his death on 1409.

Sultan Isaa Sri bavana sundura mahaa radun ascended the throne of Maldives on 1412 after the death of his brother Sultan Hassan II. He ruled the country for just three months.

Osman II was the Sultan of Maldives from 1420 to 1421. He was the son of Sultan Hassan I and also brother of Sultan Ibrahim I. Sultan Osman was famous for his kindness to his subjects.

Sultan Danna Mohanmed Sri Raadha Bavana Mahaa Radun was the Sultan of Maldives in 1421. He was the son of Prince Yoosuf Abbas Hadheygirin, and a member of the Hilaalee dynasty. This Sultan ruled the country for only 11 months until he was forced to abdicate by Prince Yoosuf.

A constitutional referendum was held in the Maldives on 17 and 18 April 1952. The new constitution would convert the country from a monarchy to a republic.

Sultan Nasiruddin I Sri Veeru Abarana Mahaa Radun was the sultan of the sultanate of Maldives. He ascended to the Lion throne of Maldives in 1409 after the death of Sultan Hassan Al Hilaaly I. Sultan Nasiruddine ruled the country for three years until his death in 1411. It is believed that he was a descendant of lunar dynasty.
