The Latvia women's national basketball team is the national women's basketball team representing Latvia. It is administered by the Latvian Basketball Association. It has participated in EuroBasket Women three times and once in the Olympic Games.

History

Golden age of Latvia women's national basketball team was from 2007 to 2009, when head coach was Ainars Zvirgzdiņš. In EuroBasket 2007 Latvia first time in history reached semi-final. In third place game they lost to Belarus. This result allowed to get in 2008 Olympic Qualifying Tournament, which had overpowered in next summer in Madrid, and Latvia took part of 2008 Summer Olympics.

EuroBasket 2009 was held in Latvia. In this tournament Latvia reached quarterfinal, where they lost to Russia in overtime with 64–69. They also lost to Italy in classification rounds. Latvia got seventh place in this tournament. After this tournament head coach Ainars Zvirgzdiņš and several players left national team.

In EuroBasket 2011 head coach was Greek basketball coach George Dikeoulakos. In his management Latvia also reached quarterfinal, but latterly got eighth place.

In EuroBasket 2013 head coach was Aigars Nerips, Latvia lost all of three games.

In EuroBasket 2015 Latvia lost in the first round.

In EuroBasket 2017, Mārtiņš Zībarts was assigned to manage the national team, Latvia got out of the low tide and reached quarterfinal, they got sixth place finally.

In EuroBasket 2019, Mārtiņš Zībarts was still in charge of the national team, Latvia was eliminated in qualification for quarterfinals.

The 2007 FIBA European Championship, commonly called FIBA EuroBasket 2007, was the 35th FIBA EuroBasket regional basketball championship held by FIBA Europe, which also served as Europe qualifier for the 2008 Summer Olympics, giving a berth to the champion and runner-up teams. It was held in Spain between 3 September and 16 September 2007. Sixteen national teams entered the event under the auspices of FIBA Europe, the sport's regional governing body. The cities of Alicante, Granada, Madrid, Palma de Mallorca, and Seville hosted the tournament. Russia won its first EuroBasket title since the dissolution of the Soviet Union, by defeating hosts Spain, with a 60–59 score in the final. Russia's Andrei Kirilenko was voted the tournament's MVP.

The Russian Federation competed at the 2008 Summer Olympics, held in Beijing, China, represented by the Russian Olympic Committee. BK Valmiera, named Valmiera Ordo for sponsorship reasons, was a professional basketball club based in Valmiera, Latvia which played in the Latvian Basketball League and Baltic Basketball League. Since 2018 the club is on hiatus. In the 2015-2016 season finals, Valmiera Ordo won its first and only national championship, beating VEF Rīga in a seven-game series. Valmiera is a three-time LBL bronze medal winner, attaining the distinction in 2003, 2005, and 2013, with coach Varis Krūmiņš.

The Israel women's national basketball team represents Israel in international women's basketball matches and is controlled by the Israel Basketball Association. Israel have hosted the FIBA Women's EuroBasket in 1991, and hosted again in 2023 along with Slovenia.

Artūrs Visockis-Rubenis is a Latvian professional basketball coach, who is currently a head coach for BK Liepāja, and an assistant for Luca Banchi in Latvian National Team.
