Nirmala Kotalawala MP (born 29 September 1965) was Sri Lanka's Deputy Minister of Highways and a Member of Parliament representing the Kalutara Electoral District.

He was a student at Nalanda College Colombo. In 1997 he was elected Chairman of the Pradeshiya Saba Dodamgoda, a position for which he held for two years. Kotalawala was also a member of the Western Provincial Council between 1999 and 2004.

Compulsory leadership training for undergraduates in Sri Lanka is a mandatory program introduced in 2011 by the Sri Lankan Government for all students select for undergraduate courses in state universities to undergo residential three-week leadership training and positive thinking development at training camps under the Defence Ministry which as lead to much controversy. Kotalawala Walawwa is a historic Walawwa building situated in Hindagoda, Badulla, Sri Lanka. The building is located on the Badulla - Passara main road (A5), approximately 1 km (0.62 mi) away from the Badulla town. It was the residence of former Muhandiram Don Carolis Kotalawala. The Walawwa has been formally recognised by the Government as an archaeological protected monument in Sri Lanka.
