Num-Torum (Numi-Torem or Numi-Turum) is the supreme god or father god of the Ob-Ugrian peoples. He is the father of the hero Mir-Susne-Hum, six other sons, including Postajankt-iki, and one daughter. His siblings are Hotel-Ekva (Sun), Etposzojka (Moon), Naj-Ekva (fire), Kuly-Otir (underworld) and his wife, Kaltes-Ekwa. According to the Khanty people, he lives on the highest level of heaven, which means that it is difficult for people to talk to him, thus the children of Num-Torum are consulted on his behalf. He and his seven sons lived in a house of gold and silver.

The Khanty, also known in older literature as Ostyaks are a Ugric Indigenous people, living in Khanty–Mansi Autonomous Okrug, a region historically known as "Yugra" in Russia, together with the Mansi. In the autonomous okrug, the Khanty and Mansi languages are given co-official status with Russian. In the 2021 Census, 31,467 persons identified themselves as Khanty. Of those, 30,242 were resident in Tyumen Oblast, of whom 19,568 were living in Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug and 9,985—in Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug. 495 were residents of neighbouring Tomsk Oblast, and 109 lived in Sverdlovsk Oblast.
Karl (Kai) Reinhold Donner was a Finnish linguist, ethnographer and politician. He carried out expeditions to the Ob-Ugric and Samodeic peoples in Siberia 1911–1914 and was docent of Uralic languages at the University of Helsinki from 1924. He was, among other things, a pioneer of modern anthropological fieldwork methods, though his work is little known in the English-speaking world.
Yugra or Iuhra was a collective name for lands and peoples in the region to the east of the northern Ural Mountains, in the Russian annals of the 12th–17th centuries. During this period the region was inhabited by the Khanty and Mansi (Voguls) peoples.

Mir-Susne-Hum is a culture hero of the Samoyedic and Ob-Ugrian peoples. He was the seventh son of Num-Torum, the supreme god of the Ob-Ugrian peoples, and acted as a mediator between humans and the god Num-Torum. Because Mir-Susne-Hum's mother, Kaltes-Ekwa, was defeated by her husband in heaven, this meant that Mir-Susne-Hum had to be born on earth. His antagonist was Jelping-Ja-Oyka.
In Ob-Ugrian mythology, Kaltes-Ekwa was the mother of the hero Mir-Susne-Hum and the wife of the god Num-Torum, who defeated her in heaven. She was also a goddess of the moon associated with the month April; a birth giving goddess ; goddess of fate; goddess of dawn and a shape-shifter, often shown manifested as a hare.
Jelping-Ja-Oyka was an antagonist of the hero Mir-Susne-Hum in the Ob-Ugrian mythology. His name means Spirit of Bear or perhaps Bear Spirit.
Postajankt-iki is the youngest son of the god Num-Torum in Ob-Ugrian mythology. He has several other names: Sorni-iki, and Õi-shlapt-lah-hliotõ-iki. He rides upon a white horse. Postajankt-iki is easily started when someone calls his name, but it is not wise to call him for no reason because then woe befalls that person, according to the myths.
In Ob-Ugrian mythology, Heini-iki, also referred to as Kul-iki, is the god of the Underworld and of the spirits of sickness. He is opposite in nature to his brother Numi-Torum, the heavenly god. He can appear in the shape of a dog or cat, or sometimes as a fog that hides a person from their guardian spirit.
Hani and Sheh Mureed or Murid is a beloved epic ballad of Balochi folklore. The story mirrors the life of the Baloch heroes and their emotions and philosophical ideas. The hero of the story Sheh Mureed and the heroine Hani are symbols of pure and tragic love. The story dates back to the 15th century, which is considered to be the heroic age of Balochistan and the classical period of Balochi literature.

Set in rural Rahim Yar Khan, the series centers social issues on the rural society revolving around the concept of Vanni and shows moral lessons against common issues such as gender discrimination. Depicting the Vanni concept, storyline revolves around the journey of Sammi, a young girl who was sold off by her family to the Chaudhry family where her brother had killed her fiancé. Simultaneously it revolves around reality based issues with different characters within the same plot. It was nominated for Best Drama Serial at the 6th Hum Awards.
