    Kinmen, alternatively known as Quemoy, is a group of islands governed as a county by the Republic of China (Taiwan), only 10 km (6.2 mi) east from the city of Xiamen in Fujian, located at the southeastern coast of the People's Republic of China, from which they are separated by Xiamen Bay. Kinmen is also located 187 km (116 mi) west from the closest shoreline of the island of Taiwan across the Taiwan Strait.

The 1953 Korean Armistice Agreement which ended the Korean War specified that the five islands including Baengnyeong Island would remain under United Nations Command and South Korean control. This agreement was signed by both North Korea and the United Nations Command. Since then, it has served as a maritime demarcation between North and South Korea in the Yellow Sea. It has a population of approximately 4,329.

In 2020, Changdao County was merged to Penglai county-level city and became Penglai District.

    The Bohai Sea is a gulf/inland sea approximately 77,000 km2 (30,000 sq mi) in area on the east coast of Mainland China. It has a mean depth of approximately 18 meters (59 ft), with a maximum depth of about 80 meters (260 ft) located in the northern part of the Bohai Strait.

    The ROKS Cheonan sinking occurred on 26 March 2010, when Cheonan, a Pohang-class corvette of the Republic of Korea Navy, carrying 104 personnel, sank off the country's west coast near Baengnyeong Island in the Yellow Sea, killing 46 seamen. The cause of the sinking remains in dispute.

    Wuqiu is a rural township of Kinmen County (Quemoy), Taiwan (ROC) made up of a group of islands in the Taiwan Strait comprising two major islands, Daqiu and Xiaoqiu. Wuqiu Township is nominally de jure part of Futian County, Fukien of the Republic of China. It is the smallest township in Kinmen County and is located 72 nmi (133 km) northeast of the rest of the county. The township is 73 nmi (135 km) from the Port of Taichung on Taiwan. The closest territory under China (PRC) control is the neighboring Luci Island, Xiuyu District, Putian, Fujian, which is 9 nmi (17 km) to the north-northwest. Greater Qiu Island is the site of the Wuqiu Lighthouse.

    Dawanshan Dao, or Dawanshan Island, is an island in the southwest Wanshan Archipelago, offshore of Zhuhai, Guangdong in China. Xiaowanshan Dao is located in the west of Dawanshan Dao. Dawanshan Dao has an area of 8.1 km2 and a population of about 3,000. The seat of Wanshan Town (万山镇) of Zhuhai is located on the island.

    Pidansom is a river island in the Yalu river in North Korea. Pidansom was developed by merging of several river islands such as Sindo Island (薪島) and Maando (馬鞍島) in the 1960s. The island is home to a fishing cooperative and is also used for agriculture.

    Liang Island is an island located in the East China Sea in Beigan Township, Lienchiang County, Fujian Province, Republic of China (Taiwan). The island is closed to the public. The island is located 26 kilometers (16 mi) from both Beigan Island and Dongyin Island and 19.25 kilometers (11.96 mi) from Kuishan Island in Haidao Township, Xiapu County, Ningde, Fujian, People's Republic of China (PRC).

    Haidao Township is an insular township off the Asian mainland in Xiapu County, Ningde, Fujian, China (PRC). The township is immediately north of present-day Lienchiang County, ROC (Taiwan).

    Dadeng Island is a sea island located in the southeastern part of Xiang'an District, Xiamen City, Fujian Province, People's Republic of China, with an area of approximately 13 square kilometers. Administratively, it is currently under the jurisdiction of Dadeng Subdistrict in the same district. There is a Dadeng Militia outpost on the island, established in 1950 and initially manned by local residents. Since 1992, it has been manned by a fixed rotation of 10 local female militia members.
