The women's individual archery event at the 1980 Summer Olympics was part of the archery programme.
The event consisted of a double FITA round. For each round, the archer shot 36 arrows at each of four distances—70, 60, 50, and 30 metres. The highest score for each arrow was 10 points, giving a possible maximum of 2880 points. [1]
The gold medal went to Soviet Georgian Ketevan Losaberidze, the top Soviet archer of the 1970s. Losaberidze also won World team titles in 1973 and 1981, a European individual title in 1972 and European team titles in 1972, 1978 and 1980. The silver medal in Moscow went to her teammate, Natalya Butuzova, later the 1981 World Champion, and winner of the European Championship in 1980 and 1982. [2]
Archery at the 2004 Summer Olympics was held at Panathinaiko Stadium in Athens, Greece with ranking rounds on 12 August and regular competition held from 15 August to 21 August. One hundred twenty-eight archers from forty-three nations competed in the four gold medal events—individual and team events for men and for women—that were contested at these games.
Natalia Valeeva is a naturalized Italian archer. She is a five-time Olympian and former world number one, and a native of Moldova, having represented the Unified Team, Moldova and Italy, at the Olympic Games of 1992, 1996, 2000, 2004, 2008 and 2012. She won the individual and team bronze medals in the 1992 Olympic Games.
Lee Sung-Jin is a recurve archer from South Korea. She is a two-time Olympic gold medalist, winning in the women's team event at the 2004 and 2012 Summer Olympics. In 2005 she became the women's individual recurve champion at the World Archery Championships and achieved the world number one spot for female recurve archers in the World Archery Rankings. In 2016 the World Archery Federation named her as the ninth best Olympic archer in the history of the Games.
Archery had its debut at the 1900 Summer Olympics and has been contested in 16 Olympiads. Eighty-four nations have competed in the Olympic archery events, with France appearing the most often at 31 times. The most noticeable trend has been the excellence of South Korean archers, who have won 23 out of 34 gold medals in events since 1984. It is governed by the World Archery Federation. Recurve archery is the only discipline of archery featured at the Olympic Games. Archery is also an event at the Summer Paralympics.
The Central African Republic competed at the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney, Australia. This marked sixth appearance of the nation at a Summer Olympics. The country entered three competitors; Henriette Youanga in the women's individual archery, Mickaël Conjungo in the men's discus throw and Maria-Joëlle Conjungo in the women's 100 metres hurdles. None of those athletes advanced out of their heats.
Ketevan "Keto" Losaberidze is a retired archer from Georgia. She competed for the Soviet Union at the 1972 and 1980 Olympics and won a gold medal in 1980, becoming the only Soviet Olympic champion in archery. She placed fourth in 1972. Between 1971 and 1981 she won two world, four European and two Soviet titles. She was chosen as the Georgian sportsman of the year 1980 and placed fourth in the vote for the Georgian sportswoman of the 20th century. After retiring from competitions she worked as a professor of mathematics at the Tbilisi State University and from 2002 to 2005 headed the Georgian Archery Federation.

The archery events at the 2012 Olympic Games in London were held over an eight-day period from 27 July to 3 August. Four events took place, all being staged at Lord's Cricket Ground in front of temporary stands built to accommodate up to 6,500 spectators.
The girls' individual archery event at the 2010 Summer Youth Olympics was held from 18 to 20 August 2010 at the Kallang Field in Kallang, Singapore. It was one of three recurve archery events which comprised the archery programme at the inaugural Summer Youth Olympics, and featured thirty-one archers from thirty-one countries. Entry was open to female archers born between 1 January 1992 and 31 December 1993.
The women's recurve individual archery event at the 2010 Commonwealth Games was a competition held as part of the archery programme at the Yamuna Sports Complex in Delhi, India, from 4 October to 10 October 2010. It was the second time that the recurve individual event for women had been included in the Commonwealth Games and the first time it had been contested since the 1982 Games in Brisbane, Australia.

Ki Bo-Bae is a South Korean archer. She took up archery in fourth grade at primary school as archery was offered as a school sport, and she now competes for the South Korean national team. In 2011, Ki became the ninth woman to achieve the world number one ranking in the women's individual recurve rankings. She won Olympic gold in both the team and individual archery events at the 2012 Summer Olympics. Ki earned her third Olympic gold medal as a member of the gold medal winning South Korean women's archery team at the 2016 Summer Olympics. In the women's individual event at the 2016 Summer Olympics, she won the bronze medal. In 2016, she ranked as world number 4.

One of three recurve archery events which comprised the archery programme, it was the second time the girls' individual discipline was contested at Summer Youth Olympics. Thirty-two archers from thirty-two countries entered the competition, which was open to female archers born between 1 January 1997 and 31 December 1999. The defending champion was South Korea's Kwak Ye-ji, who was unable to defend her title due to the age limitations imposed on the event.
Chang Hye-jin is a female South Korean archer who specialises in recurve archery. Chang is a two-time Olympic gold medalist, winning in both the women's team and women's individual archery events at the 2016 Summer Olympics. She has also been successful on the wider international scene, winning gold medals in the World Archery Championships, Archery World Cup, and the Asian Games, and between 2017 and 2019 held the number one spot for female recurve archers in the World Archery Rankings.

Choi Mi-sun is a female South Korean recurve archer. She won gold medal in the women's team event at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro.
The women's individual recurve competition at the 2019 European Games was held from 21 to 26 June 2019 at the Olympic Sports Complex in Minsk, Belarus. It was the second time the event was held as part of the European Games archery programme. A total of 48 archers from 32 different nations entered the competition, with a maximum of three entries per country. The event offered one qualifying spot for the women's individual event at the 2020 Summer Olympics for any archer reaching the semi-finals from a nation that had not already qualified. The defending champion, Karina Winter of Germany, did not take part following her retirement from the sport.
