The Central Zone women's cricket team is a women's cricket team that represents Central India in the Women's Senior Inter Zonal One Day and Women's Senior Inter Zonal T20. It is a composite team of players from six teams from Central India: Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Railways, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and Vidarbha. They were formed in 1974–75 to play in the Rani Jhansi Trophy, which they competed in until 2002–03, when the competition ended. They then competed in the Inter Zone Women's One Day Competition between 2006–07 and 2013–14, which they won 7 out of 8 times, and the Inter Zone Women's Three Day Competition between 2014–15 and 2017–18, which they won 3 out of 4 times. They won the inaugural edition of the Inter Zonal T20 in 2022–23. [1] [2]

History

Central Zone Women first played in the Rani Jhansi Trophy in the 1974–75 season, a List A competition. They competed in the tournament until it was dissolved after the 2002–03 season, but full results for the trophy are not recorded. [3]

In 2007, Central Zone began playing in the Inter Zone Women's One Day Competition, which they competed in between the 2006–07 season until it ended after the 2013–14 season. The side were the most successful side in the history of the competition, winning the title 7 times out of 8 seasons, only missing out in 2011–12, in which they finished as runners-up. [4] [5] [6] [7] [8] [9] [10] [11] They were also unbeaten in every season except 2011–12, in which they only lost to eventual winners North Zone. [3]

In the 2014–15 season, the zonal teams began competing in a two-day competition, the Inter Zone Women's Two Day Competition. In the first season, Central Zone won the tournament, with 3 drawn games won on first innings from four matches. [12] The following season, 2015–16, the tournament became a three-day competition but Central Zone emerged as champions again, with one win and two drawn games won on first innings. [13] They were again champions in 2016–17, with two wins and one two drawn games won on first innings. [14] In 2017–18, however, Central Zone failed to defend their title, finishing fourth with one win and two losses. [15]

In 2022–23, zonal cricket in India returned, in the form of the Women's Senior Inter Zonal T20. [16] Central Zone went unbeaten throughout the competition to win the title. [2] In February 2023, the 2022–23 Women's Senior Inter Zonal One Day tournament took place, in which they finished second in the initial group stage before losing to North Zone in the final. [17]

Central Zone won the tournament, their third title in three years.

The 2015–16 Senior Women's Cricket Inter Zonal Three Day Game was the second season of India's Inter Zonal women's first-class competition. The tournament took place from 26 February to 16 March 2016. Five zonal teams participated in the tournament, facing each other in a round-robin format in three-day matches. All matches took place at J Narendranath ACA Cricket Ground, Perecherla and Jagarlamudi Kuppuswamy Choudary College, Guntur. Central Zone won the tournament, their second title in two years.

The 2017–18 Senior Women's Cricket Inter Zonal Three Day Game was the fourth season of India's Inter Zonal women's first-class competition. The tournament took place from 18 March to 5 April 2018. Five zonal teams participated in the tournament, facing each other in a round-robin format in three-day matches. All matches took place in Thiruvananthapuram. North Zone won the tournament, achieving their first title.

The Hyderabad cricket team and Hyderabad women's cricket team are senior men's and women's domestic cricket teams based in the city of Hyderabad, India, run by the Hyderabad Cricket Association. The 2018–19 Indian cricket season was the 126th cricket season since the commencement of first-class cricket in India. The international cricket season started early in June 2018 with Afghanistan playing its home matches against Bangladesh. Afghanistan went on to win the T20I series 3–0. The Indian national team started its season hosting Afghanistan for the latter's Test cricket debut. India won the match in two days by an innings and 262 runs. The tournament involved five teams representing regions on India, playing in a round-robin 50-over league. The tournament was the successor to the Rani Jhansi Trophy, which ran until 2002–03 and also involved zonal sides, and was replaced by the Senior Women's Cricket Inter Zonal Three Day Game, a first-class competition using the same teams.

The tournament was won by Central Zone, who beat West Zone by 9 wickets in the final.

The North East Zone women's cricket team is a women's cricket team that represents north east India in the Women's Senior Inter Zonal One Day and Senior Women's Inter Zonal T20. It is a composite team of players from six teams from north east India: Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland and Sikkim. They were formed in 2022 to compete in the inaugural Women's Inter Zonal T20 competition.

The 2022–23 Women's Senior Inter Zonal One Day was the inaugural edition of the Women's Senior Inter Zonal One Day, a domestic one day cricket competition in India. The tournament took place from 12 to 21 February 2023, with six zonal teams taking part. The tournament followed the 2022–23 Women's Senior Inter Zonal T20 in being the first tournament involving women's zonal teams in India since the 2017–18 Senior Women's Cricket Inter Zonal Three Day Game. The tournament was won by North Zone, who beat Central Zone by 9 wickets in the final.

The 2023–24 Women's Senior Inter Zonal T20 was the 2nd edition of the Women's Senior Inter Zonal T20, a domestic women's T20 competition in India. The tournament took place from 24 November to 4 December 2023, with six zonal teams taking part. Central Zone were the defending champions.
