Student seminars
HSYLC teaches Chinese high school students. Structured after Harvard College's own Freshman Seminar Program, seminars at HSYLC are designed and led by Harvard undergraduates knowledgeable in a particular area of interest.
Through an application process, 90 to 100 Seminar Leaders (SLs) are selected to lead week-long seminars in either Beijing, Shanghai, or Hangzhou, and are aided by a Teaching Assistant, a Chinese college student who undergoes an application process. Each high school participant can explore a total of six seminar topics. In the past, seminars have ranged from the academic, such as Uncovering Dark Corners of Human Psyche: Abnormal Psychology, The Game Theory of International Relations, Your Brain on Computers, and V.2.0: Present and Future Possibilities in Electronically Enhancing the Human Mind, to less conventional ones, including The Social Psychology of Love and Attraction and A History of Chocolate. Seminar leaders and students explore these topics using historical, economic, literary, anthropological and ethnographic lenses of discipline. The seminars introduce students to a new style of learning that incorporates active and collaborative research, critical analysis of sources and ideas, and Socratic discussions among peers.

China Academy of Art, also translated as China National Academy of Fine Arts, was founded in Hangzhou in 1928 by the government of the Republic of China and the renowned educator Cai Yuanpei. It was the first art university and first graduate school in Chinese history. In 2016, the Academy has been approved to be jointly-administrated by Zhejiang Provincial Government, the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Culture. It is a Chinese state Double First Class University Plan university.
Fuyang (help·info) is one of ten urban districts of the prefecture-level city of Hangzhou, the capital of Zhejiang Province, East China. Fuyang is located in the northwest of Zhejiang on the Fuchun River, a tributary of the Qiantang River. The city is the birthplace of numerous notable individuals, including modern Chinese short story writer and poet Yu Dafu.
Du Gangjian is a Chinese legal scholar and a representative figure of New Confucianism in mainland China.
The No.80 High School of Beijing, founded in 1956, is a high school in Chaoyang District, Beijing and the beacon high school of the district. It has more than 3000 junior and senior high school students. The $60 million Wangjing campus covers 9.4 hectares, making it one of the largest high school campuses in Beijing. A majority of its high school students are boarding students.
Shenzhen College of International Education, more widely known by its acronym SCIE, is an international high school situated by the Antuo hill, in Futian District, Shenzhen, China. The school offers a four-year high-school program, adopting mainly Cambridge Assessment International Education (CAIE) IGCSE and GCE A-level curriculums, and are taught mostly in English.

Tsang Gi Ni (倪章祺), also known as Fichen Ni (倪维城), was a noted Chinese physiologist during the first fifty years of the 20th century.
William Kwok is a Hong Kong-American martial artist and promoter of martial arts education. Nicknamed "Kung Fu Gentleman", Kwok founded the Martial Arts Education Society, a non-profit organization which promotes martial arts education and traditional martial arts culture. He also serves as the co-chair of Harvard Alumni for Education in New York City.
Liu Xiao is a female Chinese track and field athlete who competes in the long jump. She represented China at the international 2007 Summer Universiade, 2009 Summer Universiade, and 2011 Summer Universiade. She also represented Peking University for 2011 Nike FUSC Chinese College Students Track and Field Elite Tournament and 2011 Beijing College Students Track and Field Games. She was 3rd place of Women's long jump of Chinese Athletics Championships, 2011. Part of her performance can be found at IAAF.
Shenzhen International BT Leadership Summit is a biology-focused business conference. It is held each year in September. It is arranged by the Shenzhen Municipal People's Government. It is held at the Shenzhen Convention and Exhibition Center.
Xu Haiqiao, also known as Joe Xu, is a Chinese actor. He is best known for his roles in television series The Dream Of Red Mansions, The Journey of Flower, Revive, Detective Samoyeds and Lost Love in Times. He graduated from Shanghai Theatre Academy.
China Adolescents Science & Technology Innovation Contest is one of the biggest national science competitions in China held by organizations including China Association for Science and Technology and Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China. Every year, more than 10 million students from all parts of China submit their projects in local-level competitions and up to 500 projects are eventually selected for the CASTIC. A few top projects are further selected to participate in competitions including Broadcom Masters International, Intel International Science and Engineering Fair, or European Union Contest for Young Scientists.
Zhang Wenzhong is a Chinese businessman and scholar. Zhang is the founder of Wumart, Chairman of Dmall Technology, Rotating Chairman of the Internet of Things Committee of All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce, Lifetime Trustee of Nankai University, President of Nankai University's Alumni Entrepreneur Association, Honorary President of China General Chamber of Commerce. Zhang is also a visiting professor of Renmin University of China, Nankai University and University of Chinese Academy of Sciences.
"Ode to HIT" is the alma mater of Harbin Institute of Technology. Liu Zhongde was the lyricist and Liu Xijin was the composer. The new official version was released in 2017, and was sung by the famous Chinese soloist Yan Weiwen and The Choir of HIT. The song is sung on significant occasions, including enrollment, ceremonies and graduation.
Zhou Shen, also known as Charlie Zhou, is a Chinese singer. He is best known for his song "Big Fish", which has won 8 awards. In November 2017, Zhou released his debut album 深的深, a co-creation with producer Gao Xiaosong, songwriter Yin Yue, and composer Qian Lei. He has performed for many TV series and Chinese animation films such as Big Fish & Begonia, Dahufa, and Crystal Sky of Yesterday, among others. In March 2018, Zhou sang the Chinese promotional song for the 2018 Oscar Best Picture The Shape of Water. In 2020, Zhou Shen won first place for his performance of the song "Da La Beng Ba" in the show Singer 2020, imitating multiple voices, including that of a little girl and a man. By April 2020, this performance clip's view count on Bilibili had exceeded 10 million, surpassing that of the original song; after the song was released on Netease Cloud Music, it dominated the chart for several days, and the single has been played over 100 million times, and has been on top of Chinese search engines.
Halmurat Upur is a Uyghur Medicinal doctor whose degree was conferred by the Pavlov First State Medical University of St.Petersburg. He was the first scientist from Xinjiang to be awarded the Distinguished Young Scholar Fund from the National Science Fund of China in 2005. He was the vice president of the Xinjiang Medical University from 1998 to 2008 and then president between 2008 and 2017, after which he became director of Xinjiang Food and Drug Administration until his forced disappearance in late 2017. He played a significant role in developing and promoting Xinjiang Medical university in China as well as around the globe, especially in neighboring Central and South Asian countries. He contributed to the development and application of Uyghur medicine, as he helped open the Uyghur Medicine department and lead the role of research and training young doctors and scientists. He helped establish two pharmaceutical companies in Ürümqi, Xinjiang. He was secretly sentenced to death after disappearing for some time. It is believed that, he, along with other hundreds of Uyghur and Kazakh intellectuals, were caught up in the ethnic cleansing policy of the Chinese government in the Uyghur region.
Hankiz Omar, better known as Hanikezi, is a Chinese actress, dancer and model of Uyghur ethnicity, who first rose to prominence in 2018 for participating in IQIYI's show The Chinese Youth.
