The Italy women's national volleyball team is governed by the Federazione Italiana Pallavolo (FIPAV). The team's biggest victories were the gold medal at the 2002 FIVB Women's World Championship, being the first team to break the domination of Russia, Cuba, China and Japan, and the 2007 and the 2011 World Cup, winning 21 out of the 22 matches in both tournaments.

Brazil has three gold medals at the Olympic Games, won the World Championship three times and the World League nine times. Brazil is ranked fifth on the FIVB World Rankings. The team is often referred to as volleyball's "Dream Team" due to its success under coach Bernardo Rezende.

The Puerto Rico women's national volleyball team is one of the more consistent teams of the NORCECA zone, Puerto Rico has taken one silver and two bronzes on the NORCECA Women's Volleyball Championship, one silver and three bronzes at the Pan-American Cup, and five silvers and one bronze at the Central American and Caribbean Games. As a member of the Italy women's national volleyball team she played in many international competitions and is a World Cup and European Championship winner. At club level she plays for Liu Jo Nordmeccanica Modena and has won national and international competitions with the clubs she played for.
