Hartford is the capital city of the U.S. state of Connecticut. It was the seat of Hartford County until Connecticut disbanded county government in 1960. It is the core city in the Greater Hartford metropolitan area. Census estimates since the 2010 United States Census have indicated that Hartford is the fourth-largest city in Connecticut, behind the coastal cities of Bridgeport, New Haven, and Stamford.
Eduardo Alberto "Eddie" Perez is an American politician who served as the 65th mayor of Hartford, Connecticut, from 2001 to 2010. Prior to entering politics, Perez worked as a community organizer. Perez served as the first mayor who was also the CEO of the city, a setup known as a Strong Mayor.

The XL Center is a multi-purpose arena and convention center located in downtown Hartford, Connecticut. Owned by the City of Hartford, it is managed by the quasi-public Capital Region Development Authority (CRDA) under a lease with the city and operated by Spectra. In December 2007, the Center was renamed when the arena's naming rights were sold to XL Group insurance company in a 6-year agreement. The arena is ranked the 28th largest among college basketball arenas. It opened in 1974 as the Hartford Civic Center and was originally located adjacent to Civic Center Mall, which was demolished in 2004. It consists of two facilities: the Veterans Memorial Coliseum and the Exhibition Center.
Blick Art Materials is a family-owned retail and catalog art supply business. Established as a mail order business by Dick Blick in 1911 and purchased by Robert Metzenberg in 1947, it is one of the oldest and largest art materials suppliers in the United States, as well as a primary supplier of mail order art supplies.

Pearl Art and Craft Supply was a chain of art supply stores. Founded in 1933, Pearl was headquartered in Fort Lauderdale, Florida and had stores located throughout the U.S. states including New Jersey, Florida, New York, and Massachusetts. The chain once consisted of as many as 18 stores in total. After 81 years in business, bankruptcy forced the shuttering of company stores beginning in 2010 and culminating with the final closure of the Fort Lauderdale headquarters on August 26, 2014. Immediately preceding were the closures of the South Miami branch on July 20, 2014 and their famous New York City flagship location on April 17, 2014. Pearl Art sold art supplies, such as colored pencils, paint, sketch pencils, etc.
The Eastfield Mall is a shopping mall in Springfield, Massachusetts, which is owned by Mountain Development Corporation, and was built in late 1967 by the Rouse Company. The three anchors, JCPenney, Macy's, and Sears closed in 2011, 2016, and 2018, respectively. The movie theater, Cinemark closed in 2020. The mall is managed by Mountain Development.

Delaware College of Art and Design (DCAD) was founded in 1997 through a partnership between the Pratt Institute and the Corcoran College of Art and Design. DCAD's mission is to educate talented and committed students to become art makers, idea generators, problem solvers, and visual communicators who can redefine the way we perceive and experience the world around us. DCAD's associate of fine arts (AFA) degree program is offered in five disciplines: Animation, Fine Arts, Graphic Design, Illustration and Photography. Apart from the traditional disciplines of the fine artist, these include opportunities in publishing, marketing, computer graphics, advertising, packaging, display design, and photography. In addition to studio courses, courses in art history and writing and literature (combined) complete the curriculum. Most students transfer to other colleges that offer the BFA degree. The College is independently accredited regionally by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education and nationally by the National Association of Schools of Art and Design.

The Metropolitan District Commission of Connecticut (MDC) is a public non-profit municipal corporation chartered by the Connecticut General Assembly in 1929 to provide drinking water and sewer service to the Hartford area. The original agreement tied together the water systems of Hartford, Bloomfield, Newington, Wethersfield, and Windsor. The MDC currently serves eight towns in the Hartford area. The MDC is run by a 29-member board of commissioners; 17 of which are appointed by the member towns, eight by the governor, and four by legislative leaders. The current Chairman of the MDC Board is William A. DiBella.
