Médina Yoro Foulah is a small town with commune status in south Senegal. It is the chief settlement of Médina Yoro Foulah Department in Kolda Region, close to the border with Gambia in Haute Casamance.

Kaolack is a town of 172,305 people on the north bank of the Saloum River and the N1 road in Senegal. It is the capital of the Kaolack Region, which borders The Gambia to the south. Kaolack is an important regional market town and is Senegal's main peanut trading and processing center. As the center of the Ibrahimiyya branch of the Tijaniyyah Sufi order founded by Ibrayima Ñas, it is also a major center of Islamic education. Médina, Dakar Commune darrondissement in Dakar Region, Senegal

Médina is a commune d'arrondissement of the city of Dakar, Senegal, part of the Dakar-Plateau arrondissement, located in the southern part of Dakar.

Lamane or laman means "master of the land" in the Serer language. The name was also sometimes the title of chiefs or kings of the Serer people of the Senegambia region which includes modern day Senegal and the Gambia. This title was also used by some kings of the Wolof kingdoms. The title is sometimes used interchangeably with the old title Maad. After the Guelowars' migration to the Sine and the foundation of the Kingdom of Sine, "lamane" denotes a provincial chiefs answerable to the King of Sine and Saloum.

Lingeer Fatim Beye Serer princess and queen from the Kingdom of Sine

Lingeer Fatim Beye Joos Fadiou was a 14th-century Serer princess and queen (Lingeer) from the Kingdom of Sine. She is the matriarch and early ancestor of the Joos Maternal Dynasty of Waalo. She is usually regarded by some sources as the founder of the Joos Maternal Dynasty. The pre-colonial Kingdoms of Sine and Waalo now lies within present-day Senegal. Her surname is Beye (English-Gambia) or Bèye (French-Senegal). Joos Fadiou is her maternal clan. In Serer, "Fa-tim" means "the maternal clan of..."

Kataba arrondissement is an arrondissement in Senegal. It is one of the 4 arrondissements in the Bignona Department of Ziguinchor Region in the south-west of the country. Previously known as Diouloulou, it was renamed in 2008 when Diouloulou town became an urban commune. The chief settlement is Kataba I. The arrondissement is divided into three rural districts ; Kataba 1, Djinaky and Kafountine.

Yoro Boly Dyao, Yoro Boly Jaw, or Yoro Booli Jaw,, was a Tuculor or Wolof historian, author, noble, and scion of Senegambia, in northern Senegal. He was the son of Fara Penda, who was a Waalo noble, as well as a direct descendant of Laman Jaw, who was the king of the Jolof Empire in 1285. Yoro was in command of the canton of Foss-Galodjina and was set over Wâlo (Ouâlo) by Louis Faidherbe, where he served as a chief from 1861 to 1914.
