On June 22, 2013, a man went on a killing spree in Shanghai, China. Six people died and four others were injured. The perpetrator allegedly beat to death a coworker at the Guangyu fine chemical company in Shanghai's Baoshan District, and then shot to death one person in Pudong District. The perpetrator shot and killed one person in Baoshan, and then returned to the fine chemical company where he shot to death three more people before being apprehended. The perpetrator, 62-year-old Fan Jieming, was sentenced to death and executed in 2016. [1] [2]

Details

The attacker beat a colleague to death at the Guangyu fine chemical company in the Baoshan District of the city. He retrieved a hunting rifle that had been hidden in his dormitory, and then asked a taxi cab driver to take him to Pudong District. When the cab stopped in Pudong, the attacker shot the driver to death and drove the vehicle back to Baoshan. In Baoshan, he shot and killed a soldier who was guarding the entrance to a barracks and stole his gun. The suspect then returned to the factory and shot dead three more people, including a manager who may have also been one of the factory's owners. [1] [2] [3] [4]

Perpetrator

The perpetrator was 62-year-old Fan Jieming. According to Shanghai police, the rampage may have been motivated by an economic dispute. [1] [2] Jieming was convicted and sentenced to death for murder, attempted murder, robbery, and robbery of firearms. [5] He was executed in June 2016.

Sha Bakar bin Dawood, alias Bakar Negro, was a Singaporean seaman and armed robber who was wanted for committing an armed robbery and discharging a revolver at Thiam Siew Avenue in January 1975. In this particular case, Sha Bakar entered a brothel and threatened three people in an armed hold-up, and also wounded the three hostages by shooting his gun at them. Sha Bakar was afterwards confronted by the police, with whom he exchanged gunfire before he fled the scene. Sha Bakar subsequently ran off to Malaysia, where he was arrested by the Royal Malaysia Police at the border between Malaysia and Thailand within the same month of the shoot-out. Between November 1992 and September 1993, at two locations within Singapore, a group of Thai migrant workers committed armed robberies at two construction sites located in Lim Chu Kang and Tampines respectively, which resulted in the deaths of three foreign construction workers, one Myanmar citizen in November 1992 and two Indian citizens in September 1993. Five of these assailants were eventually identified and arrested, and brought to trial for the robbery-murders. In two separate trials, all the five accused were found guilty of gang robbery with murder, and sentenced to death in early 1995. These five men were eventually hanged on 15 March 1996.
