The 2014 Lampung gubernatorial election took part on 9 April 2014, simultaneous with national legislative elections in Indonesia. It was the second direct election for Lampung's governor. Four pairs of candidates contested the election, with Muhammad Ridho Ficardo winning a plurality of the votes.
The gubernatorial election was initially planned to be held on 2 October 2013. However, due to regional finances, this was deemed impossible and thus the election date was delayed to 9 April 2014, coinciding with national legislative elections. The Lampung provincial government had also offered January 2014 and early 2015 as potential election dates, but these were rejected. [1] The gubernatorial election and legislative elections were held at the same location, with voters receiving five ballots (four for legislative candidates and one for the gubernatorial election), and the provincial government continued to fund the gubernatorial ballot boxes. [2]
Four pairs of candidates contested the election. A fifth independent pair had registered to run in the election, but withdrew citing distrust in the provincial General Elections Commission due to the delay in the election date. [3] Incumbent governor Sjachroedin Zainal Pagaralam was ineligible to run in the election, having served two terms. [4]

Awang Faroek Ishak is an Indonesian politician who was the Governor of East Kalimantan, Indonesia. Awang Faroek assumed office in December 2008. Originally, his tenure ended in December 2018, but he resigned on 4 September 2018 because he wanted to run in the 2019 Legislative Election competing for a seat in the People's Representative Council from East Kalimantan and then got elected.
