The 2017 Canoe Sprint European Championships is the 29th edition of the Canoe Sprint European Championships, an international sprint canoe/kayak and paracanoe event organised by the European Canoe Association, held in Plovdiv, Bulgaria, between 14 and 16 July 2017. [1]

Medal reallocation

  1. Bence Horváth of Hungary, who originally clocked 33.455 for silver, was disqualified on 25 March 2018 after it emerged he tested positive for EPO on 12 June 2017. [2]

The International Canoe Federation (ICF) is the umbrella organization of all national canoe organizations worldwide. It is headquartered in Lausanne, Switzerland, and administers all aspects of canoe sport worldwide. 157 countries are affiliated with the ICF after seven national federations were added at the 2008 ICF Congress in Rome.

The ICF Canoe Sprint World Championships are an international event in canoe racing, one of two Summer Olympic sport events organized by the International Canoe Federation. The World Championships have taken place every non-Olympic year since 1970 and officially included paracanoe events since 2010; since 2012, paracanoe-specific editions of this event have been held in Summer Paralympic years.

The 2011 ICF Canoe Sprint World Championships was the thirty-ninth edition of the ICF Canoe Sprint World Championships, that took place between 17–21 August 2011 in Szeged, Hungary. The Southern Hungarian city welcomed the world event for the third time, having hosted the championship previously in 1998 and 2006. These championships were awarded initially to Vichy, France, however, the race course on the Allier proved to be inadequate to hold the competition and the French Canoe Federation withdraw from organizing the event, following that Szeged, the original host of the 2013 ICF Canoe Sprint World Championships, was moved up to 2011.

The 2002 ICF Canoe Sprint World Championships were held in Seville, Spain.

The 2013 ICF Canoe Sprint World Championships was held 29 August–1 September 2013 in Duisburg, Germany. The championships were awarded originally to Szeged, Hungary, but Szeged was moved to 2011 in the wake of Vichy, France's withdrawal in 2010 and awarded to Rio de Janeiro, who withdrew in September 2012. Consequently, the World Championships were awarded to Duisburg.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Liam Heath</span> British canoeist

Liam Heath is a British sprint canoeist. He is the most successful British canoeist at the Olympics with a total of four medals; he won a gold medal in the individual 200m kayak sprint event at the 2016 Summer Olympics and a bronze in the 2020 Olympics, as well as a silver in the men's double with Jon Schofield in 2016. and a bronze at the 2012 London Olympics in the K-2 200 with Schofield.

The Canoe Sprint European Championships is an international canoeing and kayaking event organized by the European Canoe Association (ECA). It was first held in 1933 in Prague under the auspices of the International Canoe Federation. In 1997, the European Championships were resumed, and now take place annually.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">2016 Canoe Sprint European Championships</span>

The 2016 Canoe Sprint European Championships was the 28th edition of the Canoe Sprint European Championships, an international sprint canoe/kayak and paracanoe event organised by the European Canoe Association, held in Moscow, Russia, between 24 and 26 June 2016.

The 2017 ICF Canoe Sprint World Championships, the 43rd edition of the World Championships, were held in Račice, Czech Republic, from 23 to 27 August 2017.

Ivan Semykin is a Ukrainian sprint canoeist. He is World champion in the K-4 500 m event. At the 2017 European championships in Plovdiv, Bulgaria, he finished third in pair with Ihor Trunov in K-2 500 m. Later he was stripped of that medal because of failed drug test by Trunov.

Ihor Serhiiovych Trunov is a Ukrainian sprint canoeist. He is 2021 World Champion and bronze medallist of the 2022 World Championships.

Bence Horváth is a Hungarian sprint canoeist.

The 2018 Canoe Sprint European Championships was the 30th edition of the Canoe Sprint European Championships, an international sprint canoe/kayak and paracanoe event organised by the European Canoe Association, and was held in Belgrade, Serbia, between 8 and 10 June.

The men's K-1 200 metres competition at the 2017 ICF Canoe Sprint World Championships in Račice took place at the Sportcentrum Račice.

The 2016 ICF Paracanoe World Championships was held in Duisburg, Germany, from 17 to 19 May 2016. This event, which is usually part of the ICF Canoe Sprint World Championships, was held separately as the latter is not held in Olympic years. It shared the venue with, and was held concurrently with the 2016 European Canoe Sprint Olympic Qualifier tournament.

The 2019 ICF Canoe Sprint World Championships, the 45th edition of the World Championships, were held in Szeged, Hungary from 21 to 25 August 2019.

The 2018 Hungarian Canoe Sprint Championships was held in Szolnok, from 29 to 31 August 2018.

At the 2019 European Games in Minsk, sixteen medal events in canoe sprint were contested between 25 and 27 June 2019, of which five are Canadian canoe events and eleven are kayak events.
