NRL Western Australia is responsible for administering the game of rugby league football in the state of Western Australia.

The 2004 NRL season was the 97th season of professional rugby league football in Australia, and the seventh run by the National Rugby League. Fifteen clubs competed during the regular season before the top eight finishing teams contested the finals series. The Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs defeated the Sydney Roosters in the 2004 NRL grand final and in doing so claimed their eighth premiership.

The 2007 NRL season was the one hundredth season of professional rugby league football club competition in Australia, and the tenth run by the National Rugby League. The 2019 St. George Illawarra Dragons season was the 21st in the joint venture club's history. The Dragons' men's team competed in the NRL's 2019 Telstra Premiership season while the women completed their second year in the NRLW's 2019 Holden Women's Premiership season.

The 2020 St. George Illawarra Dragons season was the 22nd in the joint venture club's history. The Dragons' men's team competed in the NRL's 2020 Telstra Premiership season. The women's team, meanwhile will play their third season in the NRLW's 2020 Telstra Women's Premiership season. Both teams competed in the 2020 NRL Nines, with the men's side coming runners-up and the women's side winning the tournament.

The 2021 St. George Illawarra Dragons season was the 23rd in the joint venture club's history. The Dragons' men's team competed in the NRL's 2021 Telstra Premiership season. The women's team, was scheduled to play their fourth season in the NRLW's 2021 Telstra Women's Premiership season, however that has since been postponed to 2022.

Ellie Johnston is an Australian rugby league footballer who plays as a prop for the Cronulla Sharks in the NRL Women's Premiership and the South Sydney Rabbitohs in the NSWRL Women's Premiership.

The 2021 NRLW premiership was the fourth professional season of Women's rugby league in Australia. The season was planned to start in August 2021, postponed to October 2021 and further postponed to 2022 due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

The 2022 NRL pre-season was played between 12 February and 28 February 2022, before a 10-day lead up until the beginning of the 2022 NRL season.

The 2022 NRLW Premiership was the fifth professional season of Women's rugby league in Australia. The season started on Saturday, 20 August and ran for seven weekends. This comprised five rounds, semi-finals for the top four teams, and a Grand Final that was played on Sunday 2 October as a curtain raiser to the 2022 men's Grand Final. This was the last season before the NRLW goes professional.
