On 26 August 2021, four security personnel were killed and six others were injured in attacks by terrorist in Balochistan's Ziarat and Panjgur districts. [1]

Ziarat explosion

The Levies Force had received reports of the abduction of four workers working on the Mangi Dam. A Levies Force team launched a search operation to rescue the workers. However, a Levies officer hit a landmine while chasing the kidnappers' vehicle. The blast killed three Levies and injured three others in the other vehicle. The kidnappers released the two workers when Levies began chasing them. [2]

Protests

The heirs of the Levies martyrs, the people of Ziarat, Harnai, Sanjawi and various political parties and tribes placed the bodies on the main highway near Kuch Mor, Ziarat, Quetta and closed the highway to all kinds of traffic. Traffic on the main national highway of North Balochistan remained suspended for hours. The protesters said that the bodies would not be buried till the formation of the Judicial Commission. [3] Passengers traveling to and from Quetta from Ziarat, Sanjawi, Dakki, Kohlu, Harnai, Shahrag and Loralai, especially women, children, the elderly, the disabled and transporters are faced severe difficulties. [4]

Shutter down strikes was also held in Ziarat, Muslim Bagh, Khanozai, Qila Saifullah, Zhob and Loralai, Markets and markets remained closed. [5]

Panjgur attack

A man of Frontier Corps (FC) was killed and three others were injured in the Guargu area of Panjgur District by unknown assailants when an FC vehicle passing through the area. The injured were shifted to Panjgur District Hospital. [6] [7]

Operation Radd-ul-Fasaad is a codename of a combined military operation by the Pakistani military in support of local law enforcement agencies to disarm and eliminate the terrorist sleeper cells across all states of Pakistan, started on 22 February 2017. The operation is aimed to eliminate the threat of terrorism, and consolidating the gains of Operation Zarb-e-Azb which was launched in 2014 as a joint military offensive. It is further aimed at ensuring the security of Pakistan's borders. The operation is ongoing active participation from Pakistan Army, Pakistan Air Force, Pakistan Navy, Pakistan Police and other Warfare and Civil Armed Forces managed under the Government of Pakistan. More than 375,000 operations have been carried out against terrorists so far. This Operation has been mostly acknowledged after Operation Zarb e Azb.

On 12 May 2017, a suicide bombing targeted the convoy of the Deputy Chairman of the Senate of Pakistan, Abdul Ghafoor Haideri, a JUI (F) member, on the N-25 National Highway in Mastung District, Balochistan, Pakistan. At least 28 people were killed; 40 others were injured, including the Senator. The Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant claimed responsibility for the attack. The attack was an unsuccessful attempt to assassinate Haideri.

On 23 June 2017, a series of terrorist attacks took place in Pakistan resulting in 96 dead and over 200 wounded. They included a suicide bombing in Quetta targeting policemen, followed by a double bombing at a market in Parachinar, and the targeted killing of four policemen in Karachi.

On 12 August 2017, a suicide bombing took place near a Pakistan army truck in Quetta, Balochistan, Pakistan, leaving 15 people dead including 8 soldiers, while injuring 40 others. The Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant – Khorasan Province claimed responsibility for the attack.

On 14 August 2017, an improvised explosive device targeted a Frontier Corps (FC) vehicle in Harnai district of Pakistan's southwestern Balochistan province. The attack left 8 FC troops dead. The Balochistan Liberation Army claimed responsibility for the attack.

Mohammad Ibrahim Arman Loni, commonly known as Arman Loni, was a teacher of Pashto literature, poet, and one of the founding leaders of the Pashtun Tahafuz Movement (PTM). On 5 September 2021, in Quetta, a terrorist on a motorcycle targeted a check post on Mastung Road, killing 4 FC personnel and injuring 20 others.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">2021 Balochistan earthquake</span> Earthquake near Harnai, Pakistan

An earthquake struck Pakistan's province of Balochistan near the city of Harnai on 7 October 2021. The moment magnitude 5.9 Mww  quake struck in the early morning at 03:01 local time, killing at least 42 people and injuring 300 others. The earthquake occurred just one day before the anniversary of the 2005 Kashmir earthquake.

On 25 January 2022, militants stormed an army security post in a remote area of Dasht, Kech District, Balochistan, Pakistan, killing at least ten security personnel and injuring three others. The clash lasted for a few hours in which militants also suffered several casualties. Additionally, the militants also seized weapons that were present in the security post. Locals in the area also confirmed that an attack on the security post took place and that the militants suffered heavy casualties in the attack.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Sardar Ali Haqqani</span> Pakistani Islamic scholar (1970–2022)

Mufti Sardar Ali Haqqani also known as "Tawajju Ustaad" was a Pakistani Islamic scholar from Nowshera district. He was known on social media for his bold speeches in Pashto. He died in a traffic accident on 7 May 2022.
