Akeal Jerome Hosein (born 25 April 1993) is a Trinidadian cricketer who has played for Trinidad and Tobago in West Indian domestic cricket,as well as representing the Trinbago Knight Riders in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL).
Born in Port of Spain,Hosein represented the West Indies under-19s at the 2012 Under-19 World Cup in Australia. [1] His first-class debut for Trinidad and Tobago came during the 2012–13 Regional Four Day Competition,against Jamaica. [2] The following season,Hosein was man of the match in consecutive games,taking 6/33 and 5/34 against the Windward Islands and then scoring a maiden first-class century,102 not out,against the Leewards. [3] He subsequently signed with the Barbados Tridents for the 2014 Caribbean Premier League,and has since made appearances for the team at the 2014 Champions League Twenty20 and the 2015 CPL tournaments. [4]
In November 2019,he was named in Trinidad and Tobago's squad for the 2019–20 Regional Super50 tournament. [5] In July 2020,he was named in the Trinbago Knight Riders squad for the 2020 Caribbean Premier League. [6] [7] On 23 December 2022,he was bought by Sunrisers Hyderabad for IPL 2023. [8] He was released by them in November 2023 after just one season. [9]
In 2023,Hosein was signed to play for the Quetta Gladiators in the 9th edition of the Pakistani Super League.
On the 8th March 2024,during a game against Peshawar Zalmi,Hosein took a hat-trick,dismissing Aamer Jamal,Mehran Mumtaz,and Luke Wood in three consecutive deliveries,becoming only the sixth bowler to take a hat-trick in the PSL.
In December 2020,Hosein was named in the West Indies' One Day International (ODI) squad for their series against Bangladesh. [10] He made his ODI debut for the West Indies,against Bangladesh,on 20 January 2021. [11] In February 2021,he was named in the West Indies' Twenty20 International (T20I) squad for their series against Sri Lanka. [12]
In May 2021,Akeal was given a white-ball central contract by the Cricket West Indies for the 2020–21 season. He was one of the 10 players to be given a white-ball central contract for the 2020–21 season. [13] [14] In June 2021,he was added to the West Indies' Twenty20 International (T20I) squad for their series against South Africa. [15] He made his T20I debut on 3 July 2021,for the West Indies against South Africa. [16] In July 2021,he was included in the West Indies squad to play the last two T20Is against Australia. [17]
In September 2021,Hosein was named as one of four reserve players in the West Indies' squad for the 2021 ICC Men's T20 World Cup. [18] In October 2021,Hosein was added to the West Indies' 2021 ICC Men's T20 World Cup squad replacing Fabian Allen who was ruled out with an ankle injury. [19]
Kieron Adrian Pollard is a former Trinidadian cricketer,who captained the West Indies cricket team in limited overs cricket. He currently plays in various T20 leagues around the globe as an all-rounder. He also captains MI Emirates and MI New York in the ILT20 and MLC respectively. He is currently serving as the batting coach of the Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League. He was part of the 2012 ICC World T20 winning team for West Indies. During his period,he was one of the most aggressive batsman and he also has the record of six 6s in an over against Sri Lanka.
Rayad Ryan Emrit is a West Indian cricketer. Emrit has represented the West Indies Senior team,making his first ODI appearance just a year after his regional debut in 2007. Emrit maintained discipline and motivation and defied the odds to be next selected for the West Indies T20 Champion team in 2018 against New Zealand. An allrounder who is a right-handed batsman and right-arm medium-fast seamer. In domestic cricket,he has captained both his native Trinidad and Tobago side,and the Guyana Amazon Warriors in CPL 2017. Rayad Emrit is the current captain of the St Kitts and Nevis Patriots in the Caribbean Premier League. Emrit was selected as captain of the Patriots ahead of Chris Gayle and Dwayne Bravo as captain in the 'biggest party in sport' CPL in 2021.
Andre McIntosh McCarthy is a Jamaican cricketer. He played for the West Indies in the 2006 Under-19 Cricket World Cup in Sri Lanka. He plays domestically for Jamaica and the Jamaica Tallawahs.
Sunil Philip Narine is a former Trinidadian cricket player who played internationally for the West Indies. He made his One Day International (ODI) debut in December 2011 and Test match debut in June 2012. Primarily an off-spin bowler,he is also a left-handed batsman. Regarded as one of the greatest limited overs bowlers,Narine was a part of the West Indies team that won the 2012 T20 World Cup,where he took the winning wicket of Lasith Malinga in the final. In November 2023,he announced his retirement from international cricket.
Evin Earl Lewis is a Trinidadian cricket who use to also play for the West Indies as a left-handed opening batsman. At most featuring in limited-overs internationals,he's the third batsman,after Brendon McCullum and Chris Gayle,to score two Twenty20 International centuries. Lewis also holds the records of the highest retired hurt score,of 176 not out,in international cricket along with the highest score,of 125 not out,by a West Indian in T20 internationals. Lewis was a member of the West Indies team that won the 2016 T20 World Cup.
Nicholas Pooran is a Trinidadian cricketer who currently plays for the West Indies cricket team in limited overs cricket,and he is an occasional captain of the limited overs formats. He also plays for Trinidad and Tobago in West Indian domestic matches and for Lucknow Super Giants in IPL. He made his international debut for the West Indies in September 2016. In May 2022,Pooran was named as the captain of the West Indies team for limited overs cricket. In November 2022,he stepped down as the limited overs captain of the West Indies team.

The Test series formed part of the inaugural 2019–2021 ICC World Test Championship. The fixtures for the tour were confirmed by Cricket West Indies in May 2021.
