Ahmed Ololade (born 13 January 1995), [1] known professionally as Asake, [2] is a Nigerian singer and songwriter. [3] [4] [5] He is signed to YBNL Nation and Empire Distribution. [6] [7] His stage name "Asake" is his mother's name. [8]
In September 2022, his debut album Mr. Money with the Vibe was released, breaking the record for the biggest opening day for an African album on Apple Music at the time. The album debuted at number 66 on the Billboard 200 chart and recorded the highest charting Nigerian debut album in the history of the chart. [9] [10] His sophomore album Work of Art was released in June 2023, becoming his second album to debut at number 66 on the Billboard 200. [11]
In 2020, Asake won Break Out Artist of the Year at the 2022 [12] All Africa Music Awards, and was nominated as the Best African Music Act at the 2022 MOBO Awards, which marked his first international award nomination. In addition to that, he received Best New International Act nomination at the 2023 BET Awards, the same year he was listed number 5 on the Rolling Stone Music’s Future 25. [13]
Asake walked home with a brand new car after winning the highly coveted Next Rated category at the 2023 headies award on September 4, 2023. [14]
In November 2023, Asake received his first nomination at the 66th Annual Grammy Award for "Amapiano" featuring Olamide. [15]

Asake studied Theatre and Dramatic Arts at Obafemi Awolowo University in Nigeria. He began releasing music in 2017, and his career took off in 2022 with the single "Mr. Money", [17] followed by a remix with Zlatan and Peruzzi. In February 2022, fellow Nigerian artist Olamide signed Asake to his YBNL Records imprint. [18] That same month, he released his debut extended play, Ololade, which featured his breakthrough song "Omo Ope", featuring Olamide, and the single "Sungba". In July 2022, Asake signed a distribution deal with Empire. [19] [20]
Asake released his debut studio album, Mr. Money with the Vibe , on September 8, 2022; supported by the hit singles "Terminator", "Peace Be Unto You", and a remix of "Sungba" with Burna Boy. The album was well-received by fans in his home country of Nigeria, as well as across the world, and broke several records globally. [21] [22] The album debuted at number 66 on the Billboard 200. In September 2022, Asake announced the Mr. Money with the Vibe United Kingdom tour, [24] selling out 3 dates at the O2 Academy Brixton in London. [25] On the final date of the Brixton Academy shows, several people were critically injured during a crowd crush. Two people – 33-year-old Concertgoer Rebecca Ikumelo and 23-year-old security guard Gaby Hutchinson – later died of their injuries. [26] [27]
In December 2022, Asake was crowned "artiste of the year" by "Audiomack" after his debut studio album Mr. Money with the Vibes amassed over 330 million streams, and was subsequently announced alongside Kizz Daniel, Snazzy the Optimist and 1ucid as one of the most streamed and top trending artists in February 2023 by the platform, [28] [29] after releasing the single “Yoga” in January 2023 which ventured into sega music. [30] This was followed by the track "2:30" in April, and "Amapiano" with Olamide in May. [31]
His second studio album Work of Art was announced shortly after the release of "Amapiano". [32] In April 2023, Asake appeared on Good Morning America to discuss his music. [33] Asake released his second studio album, Work of Art, on June 16, 2023. [34] The album debuted at number 66 on the Billboard 200 with 13,000 units sold during its debut week. [11] The album also reached number 20 on the "UK Albums Chart" and number 59 on the "Irish Recorded Music Associate". The album was reported by Nigeria's Turntable charts as the most streamed Nigerian album of 2023 so far. [35]
Asake often uses uptempo Afro and Amapiano-styled production. [36] Some listeners have also described his style as similar to fuji because of his singing in Yoruba and use of slang in his songs. [37] Asake is noted for the use of backing vocals in his music. [38]

In August 2023 Asake joined Wizkid, Davido and Burna Boy as the only Nigerian artists to have sold out the O2 Arena in London, during which he made an epic entrance in a helicopter. [43] In February 2024, he made an appearance and performed on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert during the episode that aired on the first of the month. [44]

Olamide Gbenga Adedeji is a Nigerian rapper, singer, songwriter, and record executive. One of the most influential artists in Africa, he has been pivotal to the creative and commercial success of several Afrobeats music stars, and is consistently praised for his role in elevating Street Pop to mainstream recognition as a distinct music genre. He records in Yoruba and English. In 2011, he released his debut studio album Rapsodi while signed to Coded Tunes. YBNL, his follow-up album, was released under his label imprint "Yahoo Boy No Laptop," aka YBNL Nation. The album was supported by the singles "First of All," "Voice of the Street," "Stupid Love," and "Ilefo Illuminati." On 7 November 2013, he released his third studio album Baddest Guy Ever Liveth. The album's singles include "Durosoke" and "Yemi My Lover." On 17 July 2013, Olamide became the first Nigerian to sign an endorsement deal with Cîroc.

Adekunle Almoruf Kosoko, known professionally as Adekunle Gold and AG Baby, is a Nigerian Afrobeats singer and songwriter currently signed to Def Jam Recordings. He gained widespread attention after releasing the 2015 hit single "Sade", a highlife cover of One Direction's "Story of My Life". He signed a record deal with YBNL Nation and released his 2015 debut studio album Gold, which debuted at number 7 on the Billboard World Albums chart. Gold was preceded by the release of three singles: "Sade", "Orente" and "Pick Up". Adekunle Gold revealed to Nigerian Entertainment Today that prior to signing with YBNL, he designed the label's official logo and completed other designs for Lil Kesh, Viktoh and Olamide. Phillip Kayode Moses, better known as Pheelz, is a Nigerian record producer, singer and songwriter who has worked with several artists and musicians, such as Davido, Usher, Olamide, Wizkid, Fireboy DML, Teni and Tiwa Savage. Pheelz is credited to have produced all but one song on Olamide's Baddest Guy Ever Liveth album. In 2022, he had a hit with his song "Finesse", a collaboration with Bnxn.
Oluwatosin Oluwole Ajibade, better known by his stage name Mr Eazi, is a Nigerian singer, songwriter, and record executive. He is the pioneer of Banku music, a fusion of sound he describes as a mixture of Ghanaian highlife and Nigerian chord progressions and patterns. Mr Eazi relocated to Kumasi in 2008 and enrolled at KNUST, where he began booking artists to perform at college parties. He showed interest in music after recording a guest verse on "My Life", a song that gained traction and became a popular record at KNUST. Mr Eazi released his debut mixtape About to Blow in 2013. Afrobeats is an umbrella term to describe popular music from West Africa and the diaspora that initially developed in Nigeria, Ghana, and the UK in the 2000s and 2010s. Afrobeats is less of a style per se, and more of a descriptor for the fusion of sounds flowing majorly out of Nigeria. SPINALL, and Asake wrote the song, produced by SPINALL and Magix Sticks, with sound engineer Eskeez. The album comprises 12 tracks, which were all produced by Magicsticks. The album features two guest appearances from Russ and Burna Boy. Two other tracks which have been previously released as singles from the album are "Peace Be Unto You (PBUY)" and "Terminator" which were released in June 2022 and August 2022 respectively. This album release is a follow-up to his extended play Ololade Asake which was released in February 2022 immediately after being signed by Olamide to YBNL. Following the album's release, it peaked at number 66 on the Billboard 200 chart in September 2022.

He made his mainstream debut when he produced DJ Neptune's "Nobody" featuring Mr Eazi and Joeboy in 2020, and popular for producing all 12 track records on Asake Mr. Money with the Vibe album, which album debut at number 66 on Billboard's 200 charts and top albums chart in 31 countries worldwide, making it the biggest debut for an Afrobeats album.

He is known for his breakthrough single "Chance " from his second studio album Billion Dollar Baby which debuted at No. 19 on the UK Afrobeats singles chart and peaked number 7 on the TurnTable Top 100 chart.
