The Atlanta Capitals are an American Tier III ice hockey team in the North American 3 Hockey League's South Division. The team's home arena is the Atlanta IceForum in Duluth, Georgia.
The franchise was established in 2013 as the Topeka Capitals and played two seasons out of the 7,777-seat Landon Arena.
Led by GM/head coach Anthony Bohn, the Capitals captured the South Division title in their first season. After three seasons with the Capitals Bohn would move on to the Aberdeen Wings (NAHL) as an assistant. In 2018 Bohn was named assistant coach of the Maine Mariners of the ECHL. [2] In 2020 Bohn was named head coach of the Danbury Hat Tricks (FPHL), but the Hat Tricks sat out the season due to COVID-19 restrictions. [3] Bohn moved back to the NAHL in 2021 as the first head coach of the new El Paso Rhinos.
With stalled negotiations for a lease renewal, team owner, Don Stone moved to the Atlanta, Georgia, metro area in 2015 to meet the league deadline for a confirmed facility. [4] The team began playing out of the Center Ice Arena in Sandy Springs, Georgia.
In the 2018–19 season, the team played home games at the Atlanta IceForum in Duluth.

The North American Hockey League (NAHL) is one of the top junior hockey leagues in the United States and is in its 49th season of operation in 2023–24. It is the only Tier II junior league sanctioned by USA Hockey, and acts as an alternative for those who would not or did not make the roster of a team in the Major Junior Canadian Hockey League (CHL) nor Tier I United States Hockey League (USHL). The NAHL is one of the oldest junior hockey leagues in the United States and is headquartered in Addison, Texas.
The St. Louis Heartland Eagles was a Tier I junior ice hockey team playing in the East Division of the United States Hockey League (USHL). The USHL is the top junior hockey league in the United States, the league is geared for the development of 17 to 20-year-old players as a step between high school and lower jr. hockey levels and college and professional ice hockey.
The Bozeman Icedogs are a Tier III Junior ice hockey team located in Bozeman, Montana. The team is a member of the North American 3 Hockey League (NA3HL). The Icedogs play home games at the Haynes Pavilion located at the Gallatin County Fairgrounds.
The Bismarck Bobcats are a Tier II junior ice hockey team in the North American Hockey League's (NAHL) Central Division, and play out of Bismarck, North Dakota, in the V.F.W. Sports Center. Originally a part of the American Frontier Hockey League, the Bobcats joined the NAHL in a merger of the two leagues in 2003. In 2005, the Bobcats hosted the Robertson Cup tournament.
The Amarillo Wranglers are a Tier II junior ice hockey team in the North American Hockey League's South Division. The team's home arena is the Amarillo Civic Center in Amarillo, Texas.
Doug Friedman is an American former professional ice hockey player who played in the American Hockey League (AHL) with two brief stints in the National Hockey League (NHL). Known as an enforcer, Friedman racked up over 1,400 penalty minutes in just under 500 games in the AHL/IHL. He played four years with Boston University in NCAA Division I before beginning his professional career with the Cornwall Aces of the AHL. He was the one player taken from Edmonton in the 1998 NHL Expansion Draft. He finished his career with the Worcester IceCats of the AHL in 2001.
The North American 3 Hockey League (NA3HL) is an American Tier III junior ice hockey league that consists of teams from Connecticut, Georgia, Illinois, Iowa, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Texas, Wisconsin, and Wyoming. Sanctioned by USA Hockey, for most of the league's existence, the winner of the NA3HL playoffs would advance to play for the Tier III National Championship, however, this has not been held since 2015.
The Aberdeen Wings are a Tier II junior ice hockey team based out of Aberdeen, South Dakota, that began play for 2010–11. A member of the North American Hockey League in the Central Division, the Wings play their home games in the Odde Ice Center.
The Chippewa Steel is a Tier II junior ice hockey team based in Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin, that plays in the North American Hockey League (NAHL).
The Corpus Christi IceRays are a Tier II junior ice hockey team playing in the North American Hockey League (NAHL). The IceRays are based in Corpus Christi, Texas, and play in the North American Hockey League's South Division. The "IceRays" moniker derives from the many different species of stingrays that inhabit the nearby Gulf of Mexico.
The Rochester Grizzlies are a Tier III junior ice hockey team in the North American 3 Hockey League (NA3HL). The team plays their home games at the 2,600-seat Rochester Recreation Center, located in Rochester, Minnesota. The team typically plays more than 45 regular season games, in addition to showcase and postseason games.
The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Knights are a junior ice hockey organization from Pittston, Pennsylvania. In 2015, the Knights' junior hockey organization purchased the dormant Dawson Creek Rage franchise in the Tier II North American Hockey League (NAHL) and placed their Tier III franchise in the Eastern Hockey League into dormancy. The organization has reactivated and deactivated their Tier III level teams at various times, but plans to launch teams in the United States Premier Hockey League's Premier and Elite Divisions, non-USA Hockey sanctioned leagues that operate similar to the Tier III level. The organization also has several youth ice hockey teams in its development program.
Scott Langer is the current coach of the Aberdeen Wings in the North American Hockey League (NAHL). He previously held positions as the head coach of the Fargo Force, a Tier I junior hockey team in the United States Hockey League (USHL) and also served as the head coach and general manager of the Topeka RoadRunners. Langer is one of the most successful junior hockey coaches in the United States. He has amassed an overall record of 637-244-82 (.704), the most wins in NAHL history. Langer off the ice has helped over 290 junior hockey players reach the college hockey ranks while with the RoadRunners and Wings organizations.
The Lewiston/Auburn Nordiques were a Tier III Junior "A" ice hockey team from Lewiston, Maine. The team was a member of the North American 3 Hockey League (NA3HL) since 2016 and played home games at the Androscoggin Bank Colisée since 2015. The franchise relocated several times under the operation of the Fighting Spirit organization before it was sold to the Colisée owner, Jim Cain, in 2017.
The Mid-Cities Jr. Stars are a USA Hockey-sanctioned Tier III Junior ice hockey team playing in the North American 3 Hockey League (NA3HL). The team plays their home games at Children’s Health StarCenter in Euless, Texas.
The Oklahoma City Ice Hawks, formerly the Oklahoma City Jr. Blazers, were a Tier III junior ice hockey team, based in Edmond, Oklahoma, in the Oklahoma City metropolitan area. The Ice Hawks competed in the USA Hockey-sanctioned North American 3 Hockey League (NA3HL) after playing as a member of the United Hockey Union-sanctioned Western States Hockey League (WSHL) from 2014 to 2020. Their home games were played at the Arctic Edge Ice Arena.
Scott Meyer is an American former ice hockey player and coach who was the head coach and general manager of the Minnesota Magicians of the North American Hockey League. Meyer was also an ownership partner of the Minnesota Junior Hockey Group, which owns and operates the Magicians.
The Danbury Hat Tricks are a professional ice hockey team based in Danbury, Connecticut. The team is a member of the Federal Prospects Hockey League and plays at the Danbury Ice Arena.
