Beneath the Raven Moon is a studio album by Native American flautist Mary Youngblood, released in February 2002 through the record label Silver Wave. [1] In 2003, the album earned Youngblood the Grammy Award for Best Native American Music Album. [2]

Allmusic described "Within My Heart" and "Dream with Me" as "straightforward Native compositions" and "Walk with Me" as having a "gentle, jazzy shuffle". [1]

Reception

Noting the fusion between Native American music with other genres, Allmusic said of the album: "Youngblood and her band mates manage to slip in and out of genres without losing their Native spirit, and doubtless attracting an ever-wider audience." [1]

Michael Alden Bayard

Michael Alden Bayard is an American percussionist, drummer, composer, recording artist, music lecturer, and author. A graduate of the Juilliard School of Music Pre-College Division and the Curtis Institute of Music who made his Carnegie Hall debut at age 16, Bayard has performed percussion and timpani under numerous conductors. As a percussion soloist, he served with the Sacramento Symphony as the principal percussionist for 17 years and has been featured with the Philadelphia Orchestra, Boston Pops Orchestra, New Jersey Symphony, Queens Symphony, Joffrey Ballet Orchestra, Jacksonville Symphony, Reno Philharmonic, Stockton Symphony, and Santa Rosa Symphony. Bayard currently performs with Grammy award-winning Mary Youngblood.

Tom Wasinger is an American audio engineer, music producer, and multi-instrumentalist based out of Boulder, Colorado. He is most well known for his production work in indigenous music of North America, winning three Grammy awards and multiple independent awards for “Best Native American Music Album." Tom builds experimental musical instruments out of resonating stone, and is the founder of “The Lost Angel Stone Ensemble”, the world's only touring ensemble that performs with stone instruments. He is currently signed to independent record labels Silver Wave Records and Vohnic Music LLC.
