Gaston County is a county in the U.S. state of North Carolina. As of the 2010 census, the population was 206,086. The county seat is Gastonia. Dallas served as the original county seat from 1846 until 1911.

Fairhope is a principal city of the Daphne-Fairhope-Foley micropolitan area, which includes all of Baldwin County. In 2019 it was named Alabama's "Worst City to Live in" by 24/7 Wall Street.
Bessemer City is a small suburban city in Gaston County, North Carolina, United States. The population was 5,340 at the 2010 census. The city is approximately 6 miles (10 km) northwest of Gastonia and 25 miles (40 km) west of Charlotte. It was settled in 1756 and founded in 1893.

Most of the city is in Cleveland County, with a small eastern portion in Gaston County. The population was 10,296 at the 2010 census. During the Revolutionary War, Patriot militia defeated Loyalist militia in the Battle of Kings Mountain.
Jimmy Wayne Barber is an American country music singer and songwriter. He released his self-titled debut album in 2003 on the DreamWorks Records label. Four singles were released from it, including "Stay Gone" and "I Love You This Much", which both reached Top Ten on the Billboard country charts. A second album, Do You Believe Me Now, was released in August 2008 via Big Machine Records subsidiary Valory Music Group, and its title track became his first Number One hit in late 2008. Sara Smile followed in 2009.
East Gaston High School is a public high school that is part of the Gaston County Schools district and is located in Mount Holly, North Carolina. Its attendance range covers northeastern Gaston County and includes western portions of Mount Holly, the town of Stanley and the communities of Mountain Island, Alexis, Lucia, Dallas, as well as the surrounding rural areas in Gaston County. The school was established in 1972 when high schools in the neighboring communities of Mount Holly and Stanley were consolidated. Jennifer Reep serves as principal of East Gaston. Ryan Resendez serves as the athletics director. Feeder middle schools are Stanley and Mt. Holly, with the surrounding Springfield Elementary School also being within the area.

Its attendance range covers the central portion of northern Gaston County and it also serves the communities of Hardins, High Shoals, Ashebrook Park, Spencer Mountain, and parts of North Gastonia, as well as the surrounding rural areas. George Conner serves as principal. Assistant principals are Mary Beth Edwards, Marsha Michael and Jon Stauffer. Mike Patton serves as athletic director. Feeder middle schools are W.C. Friday and Holbrook.
Tryon is an unincorporated community in Gaston County, North Carolina, United States. It is in Cherryville Township, located approximately 4.7 miles (7.6 km) southeast of the city of Cherryville on North Carolina Highway 274. The rural Gaston County election precinct centered on Tryon had a voting-age population of 1524 in the 2000 Census.
Cherryville Township is a township in northwestern Gaston County, North Carolina, United States. As of the 2010 census it had a population of 16,500. It includes the incorporated city of Cherryville, the inactive incorporated town of Dellview, the unincorporated community of Tryon, and a portion of the town of High Shoals. It is represented on the Gaston County Board of Commissioners by Allen Fraley of Cherryville.

Its attendance range covers the central portion of eastern Gaston County and includes all of the towns of Cramerton and McAdenville and portions of Belmont and Mount Holly. Audrey Devine serves as principal. Assistant principals include Mary-Beth Edwards, Phillip Morris and Chris Gardner. Terry Radford serves as athletic director. The school was named for Stuart W. Cramer of Thomasville, North Carolina. Cramer was the founder of Cramerton, North Carolina, a leading industrialist in the textiles and air conditioning industries, and one of the founding partners of Duke Power.
Bessemer City High School (BCHS) is a four-year public high school in Bessemer, Alabama. It is the only high school in the Bessemer City School System. School colors are purple and white, and the athletic teams are called the Tigers. BCHS competes in AHSAA Class 6A athletics.
