CFGW was licensed in 2000 and began broadcasting in 2001. [1] This station is the most recent in format flips done by Harvard Media as part of their enterprise brand restructuring.

History

Originally launched on July 1st, 2001 at 94.1 FM in Yorkton, Saskatchewan. The Fox was a pop, rock, and dance station. After several years, The Fox rebranded to Fox FM with the slogan "More Hits, More Favourites". This came with a format swap to hot adult contemporary.

On May 21st at 5:00 AM CST, CFGW transitioned from Fox FM to 94.1 Cruz FM, joining the Cruz FM group of stations from Harvard Media, along with CFWD "96.3 Cruz FM" in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, CKEA "95.1 Cruz FM" in Edmonton, Alberta, and CHFT "100.5 Cruz FM" in Fort McMurray, Alberta.

Starting at 5:30 PM CST on Friday May 17th, CFGW switched the music it was broadcasting to the current rock-leaning adult hits format without the use of Cruz FM branding. All prior station imaging ceased, as new non-Fox FM branded imaging began running. This imaging teased a big announcement for Tuesday morning. The station would jukebox without announcer, commercial, or programming breaks for the entire Victoria Day long weekend; until the first legal ID ran on Tuesday morning. This was quickly followed by the first announcer break introducing the new format. This was preformed by Eddie Q. and Craig "Reader" Read.
