Cable Axion was a cable television distributor and Internet service provider based in Magog, Quebec. In 2018, Cable Axion was acquired by DERYtelecom, [1] which was in turn acquired by Cogeco in 2020. [2]
In August 2023, the Axion brand stopped being used and instead products now use the Cogeco brand. [3]
Estrie is an administrative region of Quebec that comprises the Eastern Townships. Estrie, a French neologism, was coined as a derivative of est, "east". Originally settled by anglophones, today it is about 90 per cent francophone. Anglophones are concentrated in Lennoxville, home of the region's only English-speaking university, Bishop's University. The Eastern Townships School Board runs 20 elementary schools, three high schools, and a learning centre.

The Chaudière River is a 185-kilometre-long (115 mi) river with its source near the Town of Lac-Mégantic, in southeast Quebec, Canada. From its source Lake Mégantic in the Estrie region, it runs northwards to flow into the St. Lawrence River opposite Quebec City.
Lac-Mégantic is a town in the Estrie region of Quebec, Canada. It is located on Lac Mégantic, a freshwater lake after which the town was named. Situated in the former Frontenac County in the historic Eastern Townships, Lac-Mégantic is the seat of Le Granit Regional County Municipality and of the judicial district of Mégantic.
Route 204 is a finite two-lane east–west highway on the south shore of the Saint Lawrence River in Quebec. It is one of the longest secondary highways in the province. Its eastern terminus is in Saint-Jean-Port-Joli at the junction of Route 132 and the western terminus is in Lac-Mégantic at the junction of Route 161. Although it is numbered as an east–west highway, the road follows a north–south course from Saint-Jean-Port-Joli to Saint-Pamphile, where it then follows a mostly southwest–northeast course until Saint-Georges, where after crossing the Chaudière River, follows it in a north–south course until the source of the Chaudiere in Megantic Lake, in Lac-Mégantic.
Route 108 is a two-lane east/west highway on the south shore of the Saint Lawrence River in the Eastern Townships and Chaudière-Appalaches regions of Quebec, Canada. Its eastern terminus is in Beauceville at the junction of Route 173, and the western terminus is at the junction of Route 112 in Magog.
Route 161 is a north/south highway south of the St. Lawrence River in the regions of Centre-du-Québec, Chaudière-Appalaches and Estrie in the province of Quebec, Canada. Its current northern terminus is at Autoroute 20 in Sainte-Eulalie, just east of the junction of Autoroute 55, while its southern terminus is at the border of Maine in the USA, where it continues as Maine State Route 27. Previously the highway continued to Route 155 in Saint-Célestin, but that section was decommissioned in 2006 when Autoroute 55 was completed.

Mont Mégantic is a monadnock located in Québec, Canada, about 15 km (9.3 mi) north of the border between Québec and the U.S. states of Maine and New Hampshire. Mégantic is on the border of the regional county municipalities of Le Granit and Le Haut-Saint-François. Its summit is the highest point of the latter. Many geologists believe that Mont Mégantic is a member of the Monteregian Hills formed by the New England hotspot, as it has the same mechanism and depth of intrusion.
Vallée-Jonction is a municipality in the Municipalité régionale de comté de la Nouvelle-Beauce in Quebec, Canada. It is part of the Chaudière-Appalaches region and the population is 1,864 as of 2021.
Frontenac County was a county of Quebec, Canada. It existed between 1912 and the early 1980s. The territory it covered is today divided into the regional county municipalities of Le Granit in the administrative regions of the Estrie and Beauce-Sartigan in Chaudière-Appalaches. Its capital was the municipality of Lac-Mégantic.
Spring snowfall and heavy rain caused floods in southern Quebec on 3 May 2017. In total, 5,371 residences were flooded, 4,066 people were forced from their homes, and 261 municipalities were affected, largely in the Outaouais Region, the Greater Montreal Area, the Montérégie, the Mauricie, the Gaspésie and the Côte-Nord regions. The floods were listed as the third most significant weather event of 2017 by the Canadian Meteorological and Oceanographic Society.
