Kipchoge Hezekiah Keino is a retired Kenyan track and field athlete. He was the chairman of the Kenyan Olympic Committee (KOC) until 29 September 2017. A two-time Olympic gold medalist, Keino was among the first in a long line of successful middle and long distance runners to come from the country and has helped and inspired many of his fellow countrymen and women to become the athletics force that they are today. In 2000, he became an honorary member of the International Olympic Committee (IOC). In 2012, he was one of 24 athletes inducted as inaugural members of the IAAF Hall of Fame.
Nairobi is the capital and largest city of Kenya. The name is derived from the Maasai phrase Enkare Nairobi, which translates to 'place of cool waters', a reference to the Nairobi River which flows through the city. The population was 289,380 in the 2009 Census, and it is currently the fastest growing town in Kenya with 475,716 people according to 2019 National Census. Eldoret was on course to be named Kenya's fourth city, but was edged out by Nakuru in 2021.
Wilson Kosgei Kipketer is a Danish former middle distance runner. He is the second fastest of all time over 800 meters, setting the world record and breaking his own record two more times all in 1997. He dominated the 800 m distance for a decade, remaining undefeated for a three-year period and running 8 of the 17 currently all-time fastest times. He won gold medals in three successive editions of the IAAF World Championships in Athletics. Though unable to compete in the 1996 Olympics near the peak of his career, he earned silver in 2000 and bronze in 2004. Kipketer's 800 meters world record stood for almost 13 years. It was surpassed on 22 August 2010, when David Rudisha beat it by 0.02 seconds, running 1:41.09. Rudisha would eventually go on to further lower the 800m world record to the first and only sub one minute 41 second run. Kipketer still currently holds the indoor world record for the 800 metres.

Trans-Nzoia County is a county in the former Rift Valley Province, Kenya, located between the Nzoia River and Mount Elgon, 380 km northwest of Nairobi. The county borders Bungoma to the west, Uasin Gishu and Kakamega to the south, Elgeyo-Marakwet to the east, West Pokot to the north and the republic of Uganda to the Northwest. Shawlands is a Southside suburb of Glasgow, Scotland, located two miles south of the River Clyde. The city lies along the Nairobi–Nakuru Highway, 160 kilometres (99 mi) from Nairobi.

Benjamin Wabura Jipcho was a track and field athlete from Kenya, who won the silver medal in the 3000 metres steeplechase at the 1972 Summer Olympics, behind teammate Kipchoge Keino.

Iten is a town in Elgeyo-Marakwet County in the Republic of Kenya. Iten serves as the capital and is the largest town in the county. The town is located along the road between Eldoret and Kabarnet at the junction of the road heading to Kapsowar. Elgeyo escarpment and Kerio River are located east of Iten. The growing town had a population of 42,312 at the 2009 consensus.
Nandi County is a county in Kenya in the North Rift, occupying an area of 2,884.4 square kilometres. The Shoe4Africa Children's Hospital is the first dedicated public children's hospital of its kind in East & Central Africa, and was the second dedicated public children's hospital in Sub-Saharan Africa after the Red Cross War Memorial Children's Hospital in Cape Town, South Africa which was opened in 1956 through public subscription as a memorial to soldiers lost in the Second World War. Groundbreaking took place on December 31, 2012, construction began on July 7, 2013, and the foundation stone was set on August 21, 2013. The initial capacity was a 105-bed hospital and it opened its doors to the public on 12 August 2015 and has upgraded, year by year, to 200-bed establishment in 2018. The institution is a teaching hospital partnering with the Moi University. The site is in the center of Eldoret, the capital of Uasin Gishu county, Kenya. This hospital seeks to help an under-served community where one in one in eight children die before their 5th birthday and 2/3rds of these deaths are from treatable/preventable diseases. 80% of these children will have never seen a healthcare provider in their short life. With ISO 9001:2008 status and 200-beds the hospital aims to bring quality healthcare to the public sector.
