"Famous" was released on 29 May 2015 as the fourth single from Charli's second major-label album, Sucker. [2] Remixes were contributed by RIVRS and Brenmar on SoundCloud and digital download. [3]
The video was first teased on 9 March 2015 on Charli's Twitter, saying, "get ur selfie stick ready @ericwareheim" along with a photo of the upcoming video. [4] A teaser video was released on 20 March 2015 on Charli's YouTube channel. [5] The music video for "Famous" was released for the 2015 YouTube Music Awards three days later, on 23 March 2015. Caitlyn Carter of Music Times summarises the video, saying, "You really need to watch it to understand". Chris DeVille of Stereogum praises the video and says, "Charli XCX's video for the new wave banger 'Famous' is part of the new slew of clips being released today as part of the YouTube Music Awards, and it's a good one. ... I definitely want to watch it again. The song's great, too, but you already know that if you've been blasting Sucker for the past three months". Pitchfork Media named "Famous" the 19th best music video of 2015. [6]
"Famous" was performed at the 2015 MTV Movie Awards, amongst a medley with Drop That Kitty joined by Ty Dolla Sign and Tinashe on 12 April 2015. [7] Charli XCX also performed the song on Alan Carr: Chatty Man, as she was featured as the musical guest on 15 May 2015. [8]

Rostam Batmanglij, known mononymously as Rostam, is an American record producer, musician, singer, songwriter, and composer. He was a founding member of the band Vampire Weekend, whose first three albums he produced. He has been described by Stereogum as one of the greatest pop and indie-rock producers of his generation. Rostam also works as a solo artist and is a member of electro-soul group Discovery. He produced his first number-one album, Vampire Weekend's Contra, when he was 27 years old.
Charlotte Emma Aitchison, known professionally as Charli XCX, is an English singer and songwriter. Born in Cambridge and raised in Start Hill, Essex, she began posting songs on Myspace in 2008, which led to her discovery by a promoter who invited her to perform at warehouse raves. In 2010, she signed a recording contract with Asylum Records, releasing a series of singles and mixtapes throughout 2011 and 2012.

In 2007, XCX began recording her debut album on a loan granted by her parents. Titled 14, after her age at the time, it received only a restricted public release. Two singles, "!Franchesckaar!" and double A-side "Emelline"/"Art Bitch", were released in late 2008 under Orgy Music. The song was written by Ty Dolla Sign and Charlotte Atichison. It was released as digital download in the United States on February 17, 2015, originally intended as the first single from Free TC but was later scrapped. Sign raps the track's main verses, while XCX sings its chorus hook and Tinashe its bridge and pre-chorus hook. The lyrical content in the song serve as a four-step dance instructional and contain several sexual euphemisms and innuendos. It discusses a scenario of meeting someone attractive in a club and communicating basest desires to them, while extolling the virtues of physical flexibility.

"1999" is a song by English singer Charli XCX and Australian singer Troye Sivan, released as the lead single from the former's third studio album Charli on 5 October 2018. The single cover was inspired by the 1999 film The Matrix. It follows several singles released earlier in 2018 by Charli XCX and Sivan's 2018 album Bloom.
