Anni Helena Takalo is a Finnish former cross-country skier. She was born in Nivala, and was dominant women's cross-country skiing in the 1970s, earning five Winter Olympic medals and four FIS Nordic World Ski Championships medals.
Thoralf Strømstad was a Norwegian Nordic skier who was awarded the Holmenkollen medal in 1923. Strømstad also earned silvers at the 1924 Winter Olympics both in 50 km cross-country skiing and in the Nordic combined.

He was also a long-distance runner and competed in the marathon at the 1948 Summer Olympics.
Marianne Jahn-Nutt is a retired Austrian alpine skier. She won two gold medals at the 1962 World Championships, in the slalom and giant slalom events. She competed at the 1960 and 1964 Winter Olympics with the best result of 13th place in the giant slalom in 1964.

At the 2014 Olympics, she placed 21st in aerials. She won a gold medal at the 2018 Olympics, and won silver at the 2022 Olympics, in Women's aerials.
