The economy of Finland is a highly industrialised, mixed economy with a per capita output similar to that of western European economies such as France, Germany, and the United Kingdom. The largest sector of Finland's economy is its service sector; which contributes 72.7% to the country's gross domestic product (GDP), followed by manufacturing and refining at 31.4%, and Finland's the country's primary sector at 2.9%.
Matti Taneli Vanhanen is a Finnish politician who served as Prime Minister of Finland from 2003 to 2010. He was also Chairman of the Centre Party and President of the European Council in 2006. In his earlier career, he was a journalist. Vanhanen is the son of professor Tatu Vanhanen and Anni Tiihonen.
Jyrki Tapani Katainen is a Finnish politician who served as the European Commission's Vice-President for Jobs, Growth, Investment and Competitiveness from 2014 until 2019. Katainen was previously Prime Minister of Finland from 2011 to 2014 and chairman of the National Coalition Party from 2004 to 2014. He was succeeded by Alexander Stubb as chairman of Finland's National Coalition Party. After stepping down as Prime Minister, Katainen was elected as European Commission Vice-President in July 2014.
Björn Arne Christer "Nalle"Wahlroos is a Swedish-speaking Finn, best known as a banker, investor and the chairman of the Board in Sampo Group and UPM-Kymmene. Before switching to banking Wahlroos worked as a professor at the Hanken School of Economics in Helsinki, from which he also holds a Doctorate in Economics.

Parliamentary elections were held in Finland on 17 April 2011 after the termination of the previous parliamentary term. Advance voting, which included voting by Finnish expatriates, was held between 6 and 12 April with a turnout of 31.2%.
The 2007 Finnish campaign finance scandal arose in the spring of 2008 due to campaign funding issues related to the 2007 elections for the Finnish Parliament held on 18 March 2007. The scandal involves mainly the campaign funding of National Coalition Party and Centre Party candidates. There were several related cases that were ongoing as of February 2012.
Finland's overall corruption is relatively low, according to public opinion and global indexes and standards. The 2022 Corruption Perceptions Index released by Transparency International scored Finland at 87 on a scale from 0 to 100. When ranked by score, Finland shared second place with New Zealand among the 180 countries in the Index, where the country or countries ranked first are perceived to have the most honest public sector. For comparison, the best score was 90, the worst score was 12 and the average was 43.
Guggenheim Helsinki Plan was an initiative to establish a Guggenheim museum in Helsinki, Finland. A proposal was introduced to the Helsinki City Council in 2011. After rejection of the initial plan in 2012, a new plan, introduced in 2013, was considered and finally rejected in 2016.
National Workers' Savings Bank (1971-1989) or STS-Bank (1989-1992) was a Finnish savings bank and commercial bank. Workers' savings banks were syndicalist, social democratic corporations intended to compete with privately owned banks, which could deny credit to workers on political grounds. Created in 1971 through a merger of five local workers' savings banks, the oldest component of STS was the Helsinki branch, founded in 1909. The Turku workers' savings bank was the only one to choose to stay independent. With the merger, STS became the largest savings bank in Finland. The bank went almost bankrupt in 1992 and was sold at a loss to KOP, with the government taking care of much of the bad debt.
The cabinet of Juha Sipilä was the 74th government of Finland, from 2015 to 2019. It was formed following the parliamentary election of 2015 and formally appointed by President Sauli Niinistö on 29 May 2015. From June 2017, the cabinet consisted of a coalition formed by the Centre Party, Blue Reform and the National Coalition Party. The cabinet's Prime Minister was Juha Sipilä.
Orthex Oyj is a Finnish company that manufactures and markets plastic household products such as storage boxes, kitchenware and utensils. Orthex has manufactured some of the very common items in Finnish homes. In the example over 8 of 10 households owned the Orthex freezer box Jäänalle and the 10-liter bucket according to a survey conducted by Ilta-Sanomat in 2019. Orthex's classic sled was described as the most common kids sled over the years by Helsingin Sanomat in 2005.
Allas Sea Pool is a marine spa and lido in Katajanokka, Helsinki, Finland. It was opened on 1 September 2016 on the site of the former Kanavaterminaali building. The spa has three pools built on top of the sea: a children's pool, a warm pool and a seawater pool, as well as a sauna and a café. The main building of Allas Sea Pool was completed in spring 2017. The building has a roof terrace spanning its entire roof. With 1500 places Allas Sea Pool is the largest terrace in Helsinki.
