Ieuan Wyn Jones is a Welsh politician who was the Deputy First Minister in the Welsh Government from 2007 to 2011. He was the Member of the National Assembly for Wales for the Ynys Môn constituency from 1999 to 2013,and he was also leader of Plaid Cymru from 2000 to 2012. Jones served as Member of Parliament for Ynys Môn constituency from 1987 to 2001,when he retired to focus on his work in the Welsh Assembly. Arfon is a constituency in Wales represented in the House of Commons of the UK Parliament at Westminster. Although it is relatively large by geographical area,the constituency is a predominantly urban rather than rural seat,with the majority of the population living in the two towns of Bethesda and Caernarfon,as well as in the city of Bangor,on which the constituency is based. "Arfon" is a historical name for the area,meaning "facing Anglesey";it is also the name of the former district council. This seat was created by the Welsh Boundary Commission in time for the 2010 general election;it replaced the old seat of Caernarfon. Bangor was in the old seat of Conwy. The same boundaries were used for the Arfon Welsh Assembly constituency in the 2007 Welsh Assembly election.
Denise Idris Jones was a Welsh politician and teacher. She was Labour member of the National Assembly for Wales for the Conwy Assembly constituency between 2003 and 2007.

The 2017 Welsh local elections were held on 4 May 2017 to elect members of all 22 local authorities in Wales. This included the Isle of Anglesey,which was previously up for election in 2013 due to having its elections delayed for a year. Community council elections also took place on the same day. These local elections were held as part of the 2017 local elections in the United Kingdom. Apart from Anglesey,the last elections were held in 2012. Normally these elections take place every four years,but the 2017 elections were postponed for a year in order to avoid clashing with the 2016 Welsh Assembly election,which itself had been postponed by a year to avoid clashing with the 2015 general election.
The 2008 Conwy Borough Council election took place on 1 May 2008 to elect members of Conwy County Borough Council in Wales. It was on the same day as other 2008 United Kingdom local elections. The previous elections took place on 10 June 2004 and the following election took place on 3 May 2012.
The 2019 United Kingdom general election was held on 12 December 2019 to elect all 650 members of the House of Commons,including the 40 Welsh seats.
Gwlad is a centre-right Welsh nationalist and pro-independence political party. Its current leader is Gwyn Wigley Evans.
Sam Rowlands is a Welsh Conservative politician serving as Member of the Senedd (MS) for the North Wales electoral region since 2021,and Shadow Minister for Local Government. He also formerly served as Leader of Conwy County Borough Council from 2019 to 2021.
The next United Kingdom general election is scheduled to be held no later than 28 January 2025. 32 seats will be up for election in Wales as the general election will occur after the recently completed boundary review took effect.
