A corvette is a small warship. It is traditionally the smallest class of vessel considered to be a proper warship. The warship class above the corvette is that of the frigate, while the class below was historically that of the sloop-of-war.
The Indian Navy is the maritime branch of the Indian Armed Forces. The President of India is the Supreme Commander of the Indian Navy. The Chief of Naval Staff, a four-star admiral, commands the navy. As a blue-water navy, it operates significantly in the Persian Gulf Region, the Horn of Africa, the Strait of Malacca, and routinely conducts anti-piracy operations and partners with other navies in the region. It also conducts routine two to three month-long deployments in the South and East China seas as well as the western Mediterranean sea simultaneously.
The Rajput-class guided-missile destroyers built for the Indian Navy are modified versions of Soviet Kashin-class destroyers. They are also known as Kashin-II class. The ships were built in the former Soviet Union after considerable Indian design modifications to the Kashin design. These included the replacement of the helicopter pad in the original design with a flight elevator, as well as major changes to the electronics and combat systems. Five units were built for export to India in the 1980s. All units are currently attached to the Eastern Naval Command.
The Sukanya-class patrol vessels are large, offshore patrol craft in active service with the Indian Navy. Three lead ships were built by Korea Tacoma, now part of Hanjin Group. Vessels of the Sukanya class are named after notable women from Indian epics.
Durg is a city in the Indian state of Chhattisgarh, east of the Shivnath River and is part of the Durg-Bhilai urban agglomeration. With an urban population of 1,064,077, Durg-Bhilai is the second largest urban area in Chhattisgarh after Raipur. It is the headquarters of Durg District.
The Nilgiri-class frigates were updated versions of the Leander class, designed and built for the Indian Navy by Mazagon Dock Limited in Mumbai. Six ships were built between 1972–81. Vessels of the class formed the 14th Frigate Squadron. The lead ship INS Nilgiri was the first major warship to be built in India and was built in collaboration with Yarrow Shipbuilders of the United Kingdom.
The Shivalik class or Project 17 class is a class of multi-role stealth frigates in service with the Indian Navy. They are the first stealth warships built in India. They were designed to have better stealth features and land-attack capabilities than the preceding Talwar-class frigates. A total of three ships were built between 2000 and 2010, and all three were in commission by 2012.
The Nanuchka class, Soviet designation Project 1234 Ovod, are series of corvettes built for the Soviet Navy and export customers between 1969 and 1991.
The Veer-class corvettes of the Indian Navy are a customised Indian variant of the Soviet Tarantul class. They form the 22nd Killer Missile Vessel Squadron.
The Durg-class corvettes of the Indian Navy were customized variants of the Soviet Navy Nanuchka-class corvettes. Three vessels of this class served in the Indian Navy, where they formed the 21st Missile Vessel Squadron (K21).
INS Sindhudurg (K72) was the lead ship of the Durg class corvettes of the Indian Navy. It is the second of the three Nanuchka class missile corvettes procured from the former USSR.
INS Hosdurg (K73) was the third ship of the Durg class corvettes of the Indian Navy. The ship was commissioned on 15 January 1978 and decommissioned on 5 June 1999. The ship was named after Hosdurg Fort, a fort in Kerala. It was built at Leningrad, Russia.

Durg Junction is the part of South East Central Railway. It is one of the largest railway junctions of Chhattisgarh in terms of network. It is also one of the most prominent and important station in Howrah–Nagpur–Mumbai line. It is an 'A' grade station of Indian Railways in terms of passenger services.
The 12823 / 12824 Chhattisgarh Sampark Kranti Express is an India Superfast express train belonging to Indian Railways that runs between Durg Junction and Hazrat Nizamuddin in India, and is also called the king of South East Central Railway. It operates as train number 12823 from Durg to Hazrat Nizamuddin and as train number 12824 in the reverse direction.
The MRK-23 is a Nanuchka-class corvette in the Soviet Navy and later transferred in 1981 to the Algerian National Navy as Salah Rais (802).
