Independent School League (Washington, D.C. area)

The Independent School League or ISL is a group of seventeen preparatory schools located in the Washington metropolitan area of the United States that compete with each other athletically. All competitors in the ISL are girls, but not all schools are "all-girls" schools. The league is broken into two divisions: A and AA. The schools which compete in each division vary by sport.

The Independent School League (ISL) is composed of sixteen New England preparatory schools that compete athletically and academically. Founded in 1948, the ISL's sixteen members compete in eighteen sports in the New England Prep School Athletic Conference (NEPSAC). Notable to the league, they do not allow for schools to have postgraduate students compete in athletic competition, and consequently, many of the member institutions do not offer postgraduate programs. ISL schools are also not allowed to give athletic or academic based scholarships, and are only allowed to give need-based ones. The teams that make up the ISL are some of the highest rated schools in New England both academically and athletically.

St. Mark's School is a coeducational, Episcopal preparatory school, situated on 250 acres (100 ha) in Southborough, Massachusetts, 25 miles (40 km) from Boston. The 2021 International Swimming League was the third edition of the International Swimming League, a professional swimming league, established in 2019. It comprised ten teams composed of both women and men. The league, due to COVID-19 pandemic travel restrictions, consisted of a total of eighteen short course swimming meets, called matches, spanning four stages of competition and held in two locations. In each match, swimmers from four different teams competed in individual, relay, and skins events. The ten regular season matches and one play in match took place in the city of Naples, Italy. The six play off matches in the semifinals stage of competition took place in the city of Eindhoven, Netherlands, as did the final match.
