The India International Trade Fair, ever since its inception in 1980, has evolved as a major event for the business community. It is a premier event organized by the India Trade Promotion Organization, the nodal trade promotion agency of the Government of India. The event is held between 14 and 27 November every year at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi, India.

The Theme of IITF 2013 was Inclusive Growth with Bihar as Partner State and Japan as Partner Country. [1]

Significance

IITF is a major tourist attraction. The annual event provides a common platform for the manufacturers, traders, exporters and importers. The fair displays comprises a wide range of products and services including automobiles, coir products, jute, textiles, garments, household appliances, kitchen appliances, processed food, beverages, confectionery, pharmaceuticals, chemicals, cosmetics, bodycare & health care products, telecommunication, power sector, electronic sector, furniture, home furnishings, sporting goods, toys, and engineering goods.[ citation needed ]

The participation figures verify the huge worldwide response of IITF. The 26th edition of IITF (2006) had around 7500 national and 350 international exhibiting companies. The fair attracted a huge audience of more than 3 million general visitors & 2,75,000 business visitors including 91 delegations from 53 countries. In fact, all business avenues will be encouraged to participate, to represent India in its totality and open fresh avenues for major business expansion.[ citation needed ]

IITF 2014 included 6800 exhibitors displayed in an area of 94,300 square metres (1,015,000 sq ft). (gross) with 30 States and Union Territories participated in as exclusive pavilions. In this edition 299 foreign companies from 25 foreign countries displayed their products. Around 40,000 domestic business visitors and 63 foreign trade delegations from Afghanistan, Angola, Australia, Bangladesh, Brunei, Burkina Faso, Canada, China, Costa Rica, France, Germany, Ghana, Hong Kong, Iran, Indonesia, Japan, Kenya, Lesotho, Malawi, Malaysia, Mexico, Nepal, Nigeria, Oman had visited the fair. Over one million general visitors visited the fair.[ citation needed ]

The 36th edition of the popular India International Trade Fair (IITF) was held from 14 to 27 November 2016 at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi. The theme of this fair was Digital India. [2]

It is held every even year at the new Berlin ExpoCenter Airport next to the Berlin Brandenburg Airport in Schönefeld, Brandenburg 18 km southeast of Berlin, Germany. The most recent ILA Berlin Air Show was held in June 2022.

Appu Ghar was an amusement park operated by International Amusement Limited, located in Pragati Maidan, New Delhi, India. It was spread over 15.5 acres (63,000 m2) of land and was India's first amusement park. It was established in 1984 to commemorate the 1982 Asian Games, and it was inaugurated on 19 November 1984 by then-Prime Minister of India, Rajiv Gandhi. The park closed down in 2008 after a legal ruling allocating the land for government use.

Mohammad Yunus Khan was a member of Indian Foreign Service. He served as ambassador to Turkey, Indonesia, Iraq, and Spain. He promoted trade between India and the rest of the world through regular trade fairs and the establishment of exhibition complex at Pragati Maidan in Delhi. He also headed erstwhile Trade Fair Authority of India (TFAI) which is now rebranded as India Trade Promotion Organization. The Government of India awarded him the civilian honour of the Padma Bhushan.

India Art Fair, previously known as India Art Summit founded by Sunil Gautam, is an annual Indian modern and contemporary art fair held in New Delhi, India. The first three editions of the fair were organized at Pragati Maidan, one of India's largest and oldest exhibitions grounds. Starting from the 4th edition, the venue was shifted to NSIC grounds, Okhla. First held in 2008, it is India's largest art fair. The ASEAN–India Free Trade Area (AIFTA) is a free trade area among the ten member states of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and the Republic of India. The initial framework agreement was signed on 8 October 2003 in Bali, Indonesia. and the final agreement was on 13 August 2009. The free trade area came into effect on 1 January 2010. India hosted the latest ASEAN-India Commemorative Summit in New Delhi on 26 January 2018. In the financial year 2017–18, Indo-ASEAN bilateral trade grew by almost 14% to reach US$81.3 billion. India's imports from ASEAN were valued at US$47.13 billion while its exports to ASEAN stood at US$34.2 billion.

Amritpex 2023 was the national philatelic exhibition organized by India Post, Government of India in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture and Philatelic Congress of India (PCI). It was held at Halls No. 5 of the Pragati Maidan Exhibition Complex, New Delhi, India from 11 to 15 February 2023.
