Jeremy McGrath (born 21 April 1994) [1] is an Australian Paralympic rower. He represented Australia at the 2016 Rio Paralympics. [2]
McGrath was born on 21 April 1994. He was born without a fibula and with a slightly shortened tibia in his right leg. [3] In 2009, at aged 15, he underwent elective surgery to have his leg removed below the knee due to difficulties in using prosthesis. [3] [4] His mother decided to let him make the decision to amputate his leg. [4] Before the amputation he played soccer. [3] [4] In 2016, he is studying occupational therapy at the University of Sydney. [5]
During the 2012 London Olympics, he decided to pursue rowing. In December 2012, he joined the Macquarie University Rowing Club and in 2013 attended an Australian Paralympic Committee Paralympic Talent Search session. [3] In May 2013, he started to row with Barbara Ramjan at Balmain Rowing Club, which had a strong adaptive rowing program. [3] His first competition was in June 2013 at JB Sharp winter series of regattas. [3] At the 2014 Australian Championships, he won gold in the LTA M1 x, LTA 2 x and LTA 4 +. [3] He made his World Rowing Championships debut with Kathleen Murdoch, a vision impaired rower at the 2014 World Rowing Championships in Amsterdam , Netherlands. [6] They won the silver medal in the Legs, Trunk and Arms Mixed Double Scull (LTAMix2x). [6] They were coached by Lindsay Callaghan. He combined with Brock Ingram, Davinia Lefroy, Kathleen Murdoch and coxswain Jo Burnand in the Legs, Trunk and Arms Mixed Coxed Four ( LTAMix4+) to win the Final Paralympic Qualification Regatta in April 2016. [7] At the 2016 Rio Paralympics, McGrath was a member of the LTA Mixed Coxed Four that finished first in the LTAMix4+ B Final. [8]
He is currently a member of the Balmain Rowing Club.
The 2005 World Rowing Championships were World Rowing Championships that were held from 29 August to 4 September 2005 at the Nagaragawa International Regatta Course in Kaizu, Gifu Prefecture, Japan. The international rowing season usually ends with the World Championship regatta. Apart from the Olympic Games, this is the most prestigious international rowing event attracting over 1,000 rowers. The 2005 championships were the first championships to be held in Asia.
Rowing at the 2008 Summer Paralympics was held in Shunyi Olympic Rowing-Canoeing Park from 9 September to 11 September. This was the first time that rowing was competed at the Paralympic Games.
The 2009 World Rowing Championships were World Rowing Championships that were held from 23 to 30 August 2009 at Lake Malta, Poznań, Poland. The annual week-long rowing regatta was organized by FISA, and held at the end of the northern hemisphere summer. In non-Olympic years it is the highlight of the international rowing calendar.
The 2015 World Rowing Championships were World Rowing Championships that were held from 30 August to 6 September 2015 at Lac d'Aiguebelette, Aiguebelette in France.
Gavin Bellis is an Australian Paralympic rower. He represented Australia at the 2012 Summer Paralympics in rowing and with Kathryn Ross won gold medals at the 2013, 2014 and 2015 World Rowing Championships. He partnered Ross at the 2016 Rio Paralympics.

Balmain Rowing Club is the fourth oldest rowing club in continuous operation on Sydney Harbour, Australia, and was established in July 1882 at Balmain, Sydney. It has occupied its current site at the bottom of White St, Balmain since the club's inception. BRC is a community based club with a primary focus of introducing juniors to the joys of rowing with a learn-to-row program for novice scullers as well as providing facilities for masters and social rowing.

Because the 2016 Summer Olympics and the 2016 Summer Paralympics were the major rowing events in 2016, the World Championships programme was limited to non-Olympic events, non-Paralympic events, and the World Rowing Junior Championships were held at the same time, and also the World Rowing U23 Championships.
