Kraumur Awards is a music prize, organized by the Kraumur Music Fund, awarded for the best albums being released in Iceland.

The nominations for the first Kraumur Awards were announced in November 2008. Nominations and the award-winning albums are chosen by a selected panel of Icelandic music journalist and radio show hosts, with years of experience in playing and writing about Icelandic music.

The Kraumur Award usually goes to six albums, while 20 albums are nominated. The panel can add albums to the award category, which led to six albums in the first year and seven albums receiving the Kraumur award in 2013.

365 is a media company in Iceland. At its peak, it was a mass media company and operated several TV and radio stations, and one newspaper. 365 also rebroadcast foreign television channels over its digital TV system. It started broadcasting Bylgjan in 1986, Stöð 2 started in 1986, Stöð 2 Sport (Sýn) in 1995, Bíórásin in 1998, and it started publishing Fréttablaðið in 2001. In 2017, it sold most of its assets to Fjarskipti ehf, the parent company of Vodafone Iceland.

The Reykjavík Grapevine is an English language Icelandic magazine based in the Icelandic capital of Reykjavík. The magazine debuted on June 13, 2003. Its first six issues were edited by Jón Trausti Sigurðarson and Valur Gunnarsson. In its second year, the magazine grew in circulation from 25,000 issues to 30,101. In its third year, American-born Bart Cameron took over as editor, also editing Inside Reykjavik, the Grapevine Guide, in 2006, through the Mál og Menning imprint of Edda Press.

Ragnhildur Steinunn Jónsdóttir is an actress and television presenter who is the assistant director of RÚV, the Icelandic national broadcaster. She is a former Miss Iceland.

FM Belfast is an electro-pop band from Reykjavík, Iceland. Its members include Lóa Hlín Hjálmtýsdóttir, Árni Rúnar Hlöðversson, Örvar Þóreyjarson Smárason, Egill Eyjólfsson and Ívar Pétur Kjartansson.

White Night Wedding is a 2008 Icelandic film directed by Baltasar Kormákur. The bittersweet comedy, about the never-ending search for love and happiness, takes place in Flatey, Breiðafjörður, western Iceland. The film is loosely based on the play Ivanov by Anton Chekhov.

Kraumur Music Fund is an independent Icelandic music fund and operation established by the Aurora Charity Foundation in the beginning of 2008 "to strengthen Icelandic musical life, primarily by supporting young musicians in performing and presenting their works."

kimono (band)

kimono are an Icelandic-Canadian math rock band, formed in 2001. The group consists of Alison MacNeil, Gylfi Blöndal and Kjartan Bragi Bjarnason. Blöndal is also a member of Hudson Wayne and Mr. Silla and Bjarnason plays drums Seabear and has performed on a number of other Icelandic independent albums.

<i>Dýrð í dauðaþögn</i> 2012 studio album by Ásgeir Trausti

Dýrð í dauðaþögn is the debut album by the Icelandic singer-songwriter Ásgeir Trausti. The album was recorded in three or four months in the summer of 2012. Most of the original Icelandic lyrics were written by Ásgeir's father.

The 5th Edda Awards were held on 10 October 2003 at Nordica Hótel in Reykjavik. The awards were hosted by TV presenters Eva María Jónsdóttir and Sverrir Þór Sverrisson (Sveppi). The latter was the previous year's Best Television Personality. 15 awards were given plus the Icelandic Film and Television Academy's Honorary Award.

The 7th Edda Awards were held on 13 November 2005 at Nordica Hótel in Reykjavík. The Awards were hosted by actor Þorsteinn Guðmundsson and was broadcast live on RÚV.

Nýhil was an Icelandic avante-garde small press and association of young writers, founded around 2002-2004 by Eiríkur Örn Norðdahl and Haukur Már Helgason, followed shortly by Grímur Hákonarson, and ceasing operation around 2011.

ÍR mens basketball

The Íþróttafélag Reykjavíkur men's basketball team, commonly known as ÍR, is the men's basketball department of Íþróttafélag Reykjavíkur. It is based in Reykjavík, Iceland and currently plays in Úrvalsdeild karla. ÍR was one of the pioneers of basketball in Iceland and one of the founding members of the men's Úrvalsdeild. From 1954 to 1977, the team won fifteen national championships. In 1964, it became the first Icelandic team to compete in a continental competition when it defeated the Collegians from Belfast, 71-17, in the first round of the 1964–65 FIBA European Champions Cup.

Jónas Kristjánsson was an Icelandic writer, newspaper journalist and editor. He was one of the most influential people in the Icelandic newspaper history during the second half of the 20th century and was one of the strongest spokespersons for moving the newspapers publications away from the political parties.

Bergur Þórisson is an Icelandic musician, composer, and audio engineer. He is one half of the neo-classical post-rock duo Hugar, musical director for Björk, and frequent collaborator of Ólafur Arnalds.
