Candy-O is the second studio album by American new wave band the Cars,released on June 13,1979,by Elektra Records.
"Nobody Does It Better" is a power ballad and the theme song for the James Bond film The Spy Who Loved Me (1977). Composed by Marvin Hamlisch with lyrics by Carole Bayer Sager,the song was produced by Richard Perry and performed by Carly Simon. It was the first Bond theme song to be titled differently from the name of the film since Dr. No (1962),although the phrase "the spy who loved me" is included in the lyrics. The song was released as a single from the film's soundtrack album,and became a major worldwide hit.
"Shake It Up" is a song by American rock band the Cars from their fourth studio album of the same name (1981). It was released on November 9,1981,as the album's lead single. Although appearing for the first time in 1981,it was actually written years earlier by the band's songwriter and lead singer Ric Ocasek. The song became one of the Cars' most popular songs,peaking at number four on the Billboard Hot 100 and number two on the Billboard Top Tracks chart in early 1982. With the track "Cruiser" as its B-side,it reached number 14 on the Billboard Disco Top 80 chart.
"Since I Don't Have You" is a song written and composed by Jackie Taylor,James Beaumont,Janet Vogel,Joseph Rock,Joe Verscharen,Lennie Martin,and Wally Lester. It was first a 1958 hit single for the doo-wop group the Skyliners on the Billboard Hot 100. Country music singer Ronnie Milsap had a hit with the song in 1991. American hard rock band Guns N' Roses also had some success in 1994 with their version of the song which reached the top 10 on the UK Singles Chart.
"Leaving on a Jet Plane" is a song written and recorded by American singer-songwriter John Denver in 1966,originally included on his debut demo recording John Denver Sings as "Babe I Hate to Go". He made several copies and gave them out as presents for Christmas of that year. Denver's then producer Milt Okun convinced him to change the title and was renamed "Leaving on a Jet Plane" in 1967.
"Send One Your Love" is a 1979 soul single by American and Motown musician and singer Stevie Wonder from his album Stevie Wonder's Journey Through "The Secret Life of Plants" (1979). Released in November 1979 as the album's lead single,the song reached number four on the US Billboard pop singles chart in 1979 The song also became Wonder's second single to top the adult contemporary chart,following 1973's "You Are the Sunshine of My Life",topping the chart for four weeks. On the soul charts,"Send One Your Love" went to number five.
"Let's Hear It for the Boy" is a song by Deniece Williams that appeared on the soundtrack to the feature film Footloose. The song was released as a single from both the soundtrack and her album of the song's same name on February 14,1984,by Columbia Records. It was written by Tom Snow and Dean Pitchford and produced by George Duke. The song became Williams' second number one on the US Billboard Hot 100 on May 26,1984,also topping the dance and R&B charts,and peaked at number two on the UK Singles Chart,behind "Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go" by Wham!. It was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Original Song,and was certified platinum in the US and gold in Canada and the UK by the Recording Industry Association of America,Music Canada and the British Phonographic Industry,respectively. The music video was released in mid-April 1984. The song features background vocals from George Merrill and Shannon Rubicam,who would go on to form the duo Boy Meets Girl.
"Love the One You're With" is a song by American folk rock musician Stephen Stills. It was released as the lead single from his debut self-titled studio album in November 1970. The song,inspired by a remark Stills heard from musician Billy Preston,became his biggest hit single,peaking at No. 14 on the Billboard Hot 100 in early 1971. David Crosby and Graham Nash,Stills' fellow members of Crosby,Stills &Nash,provide background vocals on the song. "No Tell Lover" is a song written by Lee Loughnane,Danny Seraphine,and Peter Cetera for the group Chicago and recorded for their album Hot Streets (1978),with Cetera and Donnie Dacus singing lead vocals. The second single released from that album,it reached No. 14 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 chart and No. 5 on the adult contemporary chart.

Ear Candy is the ninth studio album by Australian-American pop singer Helen Reddy,released on 25 April 1977 by Capitol Records. The album included a modern take on the doo-wop genre,a Cajun number that gave the Melbourne native her first and only appearance on Billboard magazine's Country chart,and a dark self-parody on which Reddy proclaims:"I don't take no shit from nobody". Unusually,half of the songs recorded for Ear Candy were co-written by Reddy herself,including the second single:"The Happy Girls",Reddy's first self-penned A-side single since "I am Woman". The album's first single,a remake of the 1964 Cilla Black hit "You're My World",gave Reddy a final Top 40 hit.
