Liam Davies (born 10 May 1986) is a Welsh rugby union footballer.

Career

A scrum-half, Davies began his professional rugby career with the Llanelli Scarlets, and made his league debut for the Scarlets while still in the region's development squad, playing against Cardiff Blues on 14 September 2005. He made a further nine appearances in the 2005–06 season, scoring a try against Glasgow Warriors on 16 October 2005. In March 2006, Davies was promoted to the Scarlets' first team squad, signing on a professional development contract. [1]

Davies started the 2006–07 season as the Scarlets' third-choice scrum-half, behind Dwayne Peel and Clive Stuart-Smith, and so was forced to wait until December to make his first appearance of the season. Again, he made a further nine appearances that season, scoring one try.

With Dwayne Peel away at the 2007 Rugby World Cup, Davies started the 2007–08 season at the top of the Scarlets' scrum-half pecking order with Gavin Cattle. The two of them shared duties in the number 9 shirt for the first three months of the season, before Peel's return, but they soon got back into action when Peel joined up with the Wales squad for the 2008 Six Nations.

In June 2008, Davies signed for Brive on a two-year contract. [2] He made his debut on 6 September 2008 in a 16–16 draw with Castres.[ citation needed ]

On 21 June 2009, Davies signed a three-year contract with the Ospreys. [3]

In January 2010, Davies joined London Welsh on loan. [4] He was released by the Ospreys at the end of the 2009–10 season [5] and joined French club Dax. [6]

On 5 January 2012, he signed back for the Scarlets as cover because the Scarlets scrum-half Tavis Knoyle injured his shoulder and would be out for at least three months. [7]

Davies was released by the Scarlets at the end of the 2011–12 season and in September 2012 joined Newport Gwent Dragons. In January 2013, Davies joined Cardiff Blues making him the second player to play for all four Welsh regions after Tal Selley. [8]

Andrew Mark Fenby is a Welsh former rugby union footballer who played as a fullback or on the wing. Fenby's professional career started relatively late, as he earned his first professional contract with Newcastle Falcons at the age of 24. After a brief cameo for the Falcons at the end of the 2008–09 season, he returned to Wales to sign for the Scarlets. The emergence of fellow wing George North on the international scene gave Fenby the opportunity to play regularly for the Scarlets during the Autumn internationals and the Six Nations, before he finally nailed down the left wing position during the 2012–13 season. A record of 14 tries in 28 appearances that season resulted in a transfer to London Irish in 2013. Tavis Knoyle is a Wales international rugby union footballer who plays at scrum-half.

The Wales national rugby union team toured South Africa in June 2008, playing two matches against the South Africa national team. South Africa won both tests, winning 43–17 in Bloemfontein on 7 June and 37–21 in Pretoria a week later.

The 2016–17 season was the 14th season in the history of the Scarlets, a Welsh rugby union regional side based in Llanelli, Carmarthenshire. In this season, they won the Pro12 playoffs after finishing third in the league, and also competed in the Rugby Champions Cup and the Anglo-Welsh Cup. It was Wales international centre Jonathan Davies' first season back at the region after leaving for Clermont Auvergne in 2014. Scarlets also signed Welsh international Rhys Patchell, South African international Werner Kruger and New Zealander Johnny McNicholl ahead of the 2016–17 season, whilst Welsh internationals Rhodri Jones and Rhodri Williams, club stalwart Phil John and New Zealand international Regan King were among the players who left.

Dane Blacker is a Welsh rugby union player who plays for Dragons regional team as a scrum-half. He is a former Wales Under-20 international. Blacker has previously played for Cardiff Rugby and the Scarlets.

The 2016–17 season was Ulster's 23rd season since the advent of professionalism in rugby union, and the third under Director of Rugby Les Kiss and head coach Neil Doak. They completed in the European Rugby Champions Cup and the final season of the Pro12 before it became the Pro14 with the addition of two teams from South Africa.
