Linda Cassell (born 24 April 1962) is an Australian former professional tennis player. [1]
Cassell was trained in Canberra at the Australian Institute of Sport but grew up in Brisbane, where she attended Lourdes Hill College. [2] She was a girls' doubles champion at the 1979 Australian Open (with Susan Leo).
In 1980 she had her best Australian Open performance, reaching the women's singles second round and doubles quarter-finals. The following year she won two singles qualifying matches at Wimbledon, before falling in the final round.
Cassell is now a Catholic nun, having joined the Sisters of the Good Samaritan in 2007. [2] [3] She made her perpetual profession in St Scholastica' College chapel at Glebe Point, Sydney. Cassell attended Lourdes Hill College in Brisbane, a secondary school established in 1916 by the Sisters of the Good Samaritan. She has worked as a counsellor at Bede Polding College, Windsor, in Sydney's outer western suburbs and served on the Board of Directors of Stella Maris College, Manly in Sydney. [4]

Ai Sugiyama is a Japanese former tennis player. She reached the world No. 1 ranking in women's doubles on the WTA Tour and had a career-high singles ranking of world No. 8, achieved on February 9, 2004. In her career, she won six singles and 38 doubles titles, including three Grand Slam titles, and one Grand Slam mixed doubles title. Sugiyama held the all-time record, for both male and female players, for her 62 consecutive Grand Slam main-draw appearances, until she was surpassed by Roger Federer at the 2015 Wimbledon Championships.
Thelma Dorothy Coyne Long was an Australian tennis player and one of the female players who dominated Australian tennis from the mid-1930s to the 1950s. During her career, she won 19 Grand Slam tournament titles. In 2013, Long was inducted into the International Tennis Hall of Fame.

The Congregation of the Sisters of the Good Samaritan, colloquially known as the "Good Sams", is a Roman Catholic congregation of religious women commenced by Bede Polding, OSB, Australia’s first Catholic bishop, in Sydney in 1857. The congregation was the first religious congregation to be founded in Australia. The sisters form an apostolic institute that follows the Rule of Saint Benedict. They take their name from the well-known gospel parable of the Good Samaritan.
Kristýna Plíšková is a Czech former professional tennis player. In her career, she won one singles and five doubles titles on the WTA Tour, with nine singles titles and eight doubles titles on the ITF Circuit.
