Gupta is a common surname or last name of Indian origin. It is based on the Sanskrit word गोप्तृgoptṛ, which means 'guardian' or 'protector'. According to historian R. C. Majumdar, the surname Gupta was adopted by several different communities in northern and eastern India at different times.

The Fu Foundation School of Engineering and Applied Science is the engineering and applied science school of Columbia University, a private research university in New York City. It was founded as the School of Mines in 1863 and then the School of Mines, Engineering and Chemistry before becoming the School of Engineering and Applied Science. On October 1, 1997, the school was renamed in honor of Chinese businessman Z.Y. Fu, who had donated $26 million to the school.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Telugu Americans</span> Americans of Telugu birth or descent

Telugu Americans are citizens of the United States of America who belong to the Telugu ethnic group. The vast majority of Telugu Americans trace their ancestry to the Indian states of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, but also from other neighbouring states including Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Odisha, Maharashtra, etc. Most of the Telugus that have migrated during 20th century were from the Krishna and Godavari delta regions of the Madras Presidency. During the 21st century, after the dot-com boom, Telugus from all regions of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana started migrating in high numbers.
