The Attorney General of Peru is the head of the Public Ministry of Peru. Individuals in the office must be over 45 years old and are appointed by the National Board of Justice (JNJ).

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Cuellos Blancos scandal</span>

The Cuellos Blancos scandal or the CNM Audios scandal is a judicial scandal caused by the revelation of audio recordings of judges and their staff, with the most notable individual being Associative Justice of the Supreme Court of Peru César Hinostroza, allegedly discussing bribes and reducing criminal penalties. These judges were part of the National Council of Magistracy. The scandal was revealed by an initiative led by the investigative journalism website IDL-Reporteros, which ultimately collected over 63,000 audio recordings that reportedly unveiled one of the largest corruption networks in Peru's judicial history. Following the scandal, the CNM would be restructured into the National Board of Justice (JNJ).

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Presidency of Pedro Castillo</span>

The presidency of Pedro Castillo began with his inauguration as the president of Peru on 28 July 2021, the Peruvian Independence Day. In the 2021 Peruvian general election, Castillo, a school teacher and union organizer, won the presidential election against the right-wing candidate Keiko Fujimori of Popular Force by a 45,000 margin in the runoff. In the congressional elections, Castillo's party, Free Peru, did not get a majority in the Congress of the Republic of Peru.

Zoraida Ávalos Rivera is a Peruvian jurist who served as the country's attorney general from 8 January 2019 to 30 March 2022.

Arnulfo Bruno Pacheco Castillo is a Peruvian politician and former presidential secretary of Peru. He served on that position and as presidential chief of staff under Peruvian President Pedro Castillo. During 2022, Pacheco was a fugitive, but on 25 July of that year, he gave up to authorities.

The 2023 Liga 1 de Fútbol Profesional was the 107th season of the Peruvian Primera División, the highest division of Peruvian football. A total of 19 teams competed in the season, which began on 3 February and ended on 8 November 2023. The season was originally scheduled to begin on 21 January, but the first two matchdays were postponed due to the 2022–2023 Peruvian protests. The fixtures for the season were announced on 30 December 2022.

Guillermo Bermejo Rojas is a Peruvian politician. He was elected for the Congress of Peru for the 2021-2026 period.

Liz Patricia Benavides Vargas is a Peruvian lawyer. On June 20, 2022, she was elected as Attorney General of Peru and was removed from her position on 7 December 2023 as a result of the Peruvian Public Ministry controversy.

Betssy Betzabet Chávez Chino is a Peruvian lawyer and politician, who served as prime minister of Peru from 26 November until 7 December 2022 when she resigned from office. She was Peru's seventh female prime minister. She has been a member of the Peruvian Congress since July 2021 and served as Minister of Culture from August 2022 to November 2022. She previously was Minister of Labor and Employment Promotion, from October 2021 until May 2022, when a censure motion against her was approved. She later held the position of Minister of Culture, before being appointed prime minister.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">2022–2023 Apurímac protests</span>

The 2022–2023 Apurímac protests corresponds to a series of protests and violent confrontations that began on 10 December 2022 in the department of Apurímac in the context of the December 2022 Peruvian protests. The protesters demand the resignation of President Dina Boluarte, the closure of the Congress of the Republic, and new general elections. Unlike the protests in other regions and cities, in Apurímac the confrontations are more violent, and criminal acts have been recorded, such as the kidnapping of police officers and attacks on police stations. The Boluarte government declared a state of emergency, removing some constitutional protections from citizens, including the rights preventing troops from staying within private homes and buildings, freedom of movement, freedom of assembly and "personal freedom and security".

Vicente Romero Fernández is a retired general of the Peruvian National Police. He is the current Minister of the Interior of Peru since 13 January 2023 under the presidency of Dina Boluarte. He previously served as the Minister of the Interior under the presidency of Pedro Pablo Kuczynski from 9 January to 2 April 2018, after the resignation of Carlos Basombrío.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Peruvian Public Ministry controversy</span>

An investigation surrounding the Public Ministry of Peru, known as Operation Valkyrie V resulted with a controversy surrounding the Attorney General of Peru, Patricia Benavides, who was alleged to head a criminal organization. The scandal revolved around alleged irregularities with the decisions of electing the Ombudsman of Peru Josué Gutiérrez Cóndor, dismissing former attorney general Zoraida Ávalos and attempts to remove the members of the National Board of Justice (JNJ), all in reported attempts for Benavides to main control of the Public Ministry by nominating allies in judicial positions. Messages discovered during investigations reportedly showed Benavides collaboration with members of the Congress of Peru from Advance Country, Popular Force and We Are Peru, that thirty-seven congressmen collaborated with her and that Benavides protected certain legislators from investigations.
