This is a list of administrators and governors of Anambra State. Anambra State, Nigeria, was formed on 3 February 1976 [1] when East-Central State was divided into Anambra and Imo (Owerri) states.

Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, also called UNIZIK or NAU in short is a federal university in Nigeria. It consists of two campuses in Anambra State. Its main campus is in Awka, while its other campus is in Nnewi. There are also other campuses of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka. These include Agulu in Aniocha local government area and Ifite-Ogwuari in Ayamelum local government area in Anambra State. This makes Nnamdi Azikiwe University to operate in the three Senatorial Districts in Anambra State, Nigeria having Awka campus, in Anambra Central Senatorial District, Nnewi in Anambra North Senatorial District and Ifite-Ogwuari in Anambra North Senatorial District, respectively. These campuses have libraries and information services that serve the students, academic and non-academic staff. It is one of the federal universities which are overseen and accredited by the National Universities Commission. The university is named after late Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe. The academic staff of the university belong to Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU). The staff union is known to grant scholarship to indigent students just like other philanthropists. It has a total population of about 34,000 students.

Christian Chukuwuma Onoh, popularly known as CC Onoh, was a Nigerian businessman and lawyer who became governor of Anambra State in 1983 at the end of the Nigerian Second Republic. He was also the father-in-law of Emeka Ojukwu.

John Atom Kpera was the first Military Governor of Anambra State in Nigeria from March 1976 to July 1978, after it had been created from the old East Central State during the military regime of General Olusegun Obasanjo. Later he was Military Governor of Benue State from January 1984 to August 1985 during the military regime of Major-General Muhammadu Buhari.

Colonel Mike E. Attah was the Military Administrator of Anambra State in Nigeria from 9 December 1993 to 21 August 1996 during the military regime of General Sani Abacha.

Rufai Garba was the Military Administrator of Anambra State in Nigeria from 21 December 1996 to 6 August 1998 during the military regime of General Sani Abacha, and then of Sokoto State from 6 August 1998 to 29 May 1999 during the transitional regime of General Abdulsalami Abubakar, when he handed over to the elected Executive Governor Attahiru Dalhatu Bafarawa.

Allison Amaechina Madueke is a retired Nigerian naval officer. He was Chief of Naval Staff of Nigeria from 1993 to 1994, military governor of Anambra State from January 1984 to August 1985, and Imo State military governor from 1985 to 1986.

Alhaji Sa'idu Barda is a Nigerian politician who was elected on the National Republican Convention (NRC) platform as Governor of Katsina State, Nigeria, holding office between January 1992 and November 1993 during the Nigerian Third Republic. He remained active in politics in the Nigerian Fourth Republic.

Colonel (retired) Robert (Bob) Nnaemeka Akonobi was appointed military governor of Anambra State, Nigeria, from December 1987 to August 1990 during the military regime of General Ibrahim Babangida.

The 2003 Anambra State gubernatorial election occurred on April 19, 2003. PDP's Chris Ngige won election, defeating APGA's Peter Obi and other candidates.

The 1999 Anambra State gubernatorial election occurred in Nigeria on January 9, 1999. The PDP nominee Chinwoke Mbadinuju won the election, defeating the ABC Nwosu, the APP candidate.

The 1979 Anambra State gubernatorial election occurred on July 28, 1979. NPP's Jim Nwobodo won election for a first term to become Anambra State's first executive governor by defeating NPN's Christian Onoh, his closest contestant to win the contest.
