The plantation was originally worked by Egyptian migrant farmers who purchased and permanently settled the lands in 1894 and developed Sahab into an agricultural estate. Sahab became its own municipality in 1962 and today is a densely populated industrial hub. It is home to the country's largest industrial city, the Abdullah II Ibn Al-Hussein Industrial Estate, and the largest cemetery in greater Amman, as well as the Caves of Raqeem site mentioned in the Qur'an. The population of Sahab in 2015 was 169,434.

The Amman International Stadium is a stadium in Al-Hussein City, Amman, Jordan. It is the largest stadium in Jordan. The stadium was built in 1964 and opened in 1968. It is owned by the Government of Jordan and operated by the Higher Council of Youth. It is also the home stadium of the Jordan national football team and Al-Faisaly SC. It has a current capacity of 17,619 spectators.

2007 Jordanian local elections

On July 31, 2007, Jordan held mayoral and council elections in 94 municipalities. As in past elections, the Municipality of Greater Amman (MOGA) was exempt from the full election; only half of the 68-member council was elected, while the other half of the MOGA council, along with the mayor, was appointed by the King of Jordan.

2009 IAAF World Cross Country Championships International athletics championship event

The 2009 IAAF World Cross Country Championships took place on March 28, 2009. The races were held at the Al Bisharat Golf Course in Amman, Jordan. Four races took place, one for men, women, junior men and junior women respectively. All races encompassed both individual and team competition. Amman is also only the second occasion on which Asia has hosted the World Cross Country Championships, which are the oldest IAAF World Athletics Series event, first celebrated under the IAAF banner in 1973.

Omar Maani is a businessman and reform driven politician serving in the house of senate. Mr. Maani also served as Mayor of Amman, the capital of Jordan, for five years from 2006. Prior to his tenure, he was the founder and Chairman of Maani Group, a private sector manufacturing group which he led for the past 30 years.
