The president of Galmudug is the head of state and head of government of Galmudug, a federated state of the Federal Republic of Somalia. The president and vice president are elected for a four-year term, and can serve two consecutive terms. [1] [2] [3]

Mudug is an administrative region (gobol) in north-central Somalia. The population of Mudug is 131,455 as of 2005.
Somalia is a federal republic consisting of six federal states. Somalia is further subdivided into 18 administrative regions, which are in turn subdivided into districts. One region, Banaadir, is not part of any state.
Galkayo is the third-largest city in Somalia which serves as the capital of the north-central Mudug region. The city is divided into two administrative areas separated by a loose boundary.

Himan and Heeb was an autonomous region in the Federal Republic of Somalia. Formed in 2008, its capital was the central town of Adado (Cadaado). In 2015 Himan and Heeb merged with Galmudug to form a much larger Galmudug which consists of Mudug and Galguduud regions.

Ahmed Moallim Fiqi is a politician from Somalia. He is currently a member of the Somali Federal Parliament. From May 2011 to March 2013, he served as Director of the National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA). After resigning from the position, he was provisionally replaced by Abdikarin Dahir.

Mohamed Ali Hassan, also known as Sheikh Mohamed Shakir Ali Hassan, was the Chief minister of Galmudug. He was Appointed on 6 December 2017 after a powersharing deal between Galmudug and Ahlu Sunna Waljama'a.
Ahmed Abdi Karie, nicknamed "Qoor Qoor", is the current President of Galmudug. He assumed office on 2 February 2020.
