Macedonian football clubs in European competitions

Last updated

North Macedonia's football clubs have participated in European football competitions since 1961. Before 1992 North Macedonia was a part of Yugoslavia. Therefore, Macedonian teams represented this country and did not always have a guaranteed spot in European competitions.

UEFA coefficient and ranking

For the 2018–19 UEFA competitions, the associations will be allocated places according to their 2017 UEFA country coefficients, which will take into account their performance in European competitions from 2012–13 to 2016–17. In the 2017 rankings that will be used for the 2018–19 European competitions, North Macedonia's coefficient points total is 5.625. After earning a score of 1.250 during the 2016–17 European campaign, Macedonia is ranked by UEFA as the 42nd best association in Europe out of 54.

The UEFA Super Cup is an annual super cup football match organised by UEFA and contested by the winners of the two main European club competitions; the UEFA Champions League and UEFA Europa League. Nogometni klub Maribor, also simply known as NK Maribor, is a Slovenian professional football club based in Maribor. The club have participated in 40 editions of the club competitions governed by the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA), the chief authority for football across Europe. These include 16 seasons in the UEFA Champions League, 16 seasons in the UEFA Cup and Europa League, three seasons in the UEFA Europa Conference League, two seasons in the UEFA Cup Winners' Cup, and three seasons in the UEFA Intertoto Cup. Counting all of the 185 games the side have played in European competitions since their first entry into the Mitropa Cup in the 1970–71 season, the team's record stands at 66 wins, 46 draws, and 73 defeats as of match played 17 August 2023. KF Bashkimi was a football club, which was played in the town of Kumanovo, North Macedonia. The club was dissolved before the 2008–09 Macedonian First League season, when they folded due to financial reasons.

Italian football clubs have entered European association football competitions since season 1955–56, when Milan took part in European Cup competition. Clubs from Bosnia and Herzegovina have played in European competitions since the 1967–68 season, when Yugoslav champions Sarajevo took part in the European Cup. They defeated Cypriot team Olympiakos Nicosia in the first round and then lost to Manchester United in the second round.

Slovak football clubs have participated in European football competitions since 1956. Before 1993 Slovakia was a part of Czechoslovakia, therefore Slovak teams represented this country and did not always have a spot in European competitions.
