A Maharashtra Mandal is a social group formed to preserve the culture of those born in the Indian state of Maharashtra, and speakers of its language, Marathi, who live outside the state. Such groups exist in India and throughout the world, examples being in Helsinki, Brussels, Houston and Dar es Salaam. [1] [2] [3] The Mandal was founded in 1924 by Shivrampant Damle. [4]

Marathi is an Indo-Aryan language spoken predominantly by around 120 million Marathi people of Maharashtra, India. It is the official language and co-official language in the Maharashtra and Goa states of Western India, respectively and is one of the 22 scheduled languages of India. With 83 million speakers as 2011, Marathi ranks 10th in the list of languages with most native speakers in the world. Maharashtra State in western India

Maharashtra is a state in the western and central peninsular region of India occupying a substantial portion of the Deccan Plateau. The centre of India is in this state. Maharashtra is the second-most populous state in India as well as the third-most populous country subdivision in the world. It was formed on 1 May 1960 by splitting the bilingual Bombay State, which had existed since 1956, into majority Marathi-speaking Maharashtra and Gujarati-speaking Gujarat. Thus Maharashtra is a Marathi linguistic state. The state is divided into 6 divisions and 36 districts, with the state capital being Mumbai, also the most populous urban area in India and Nagpur serving as the winter capital. The Godavari and the Krishna are the two major rivers in the state. Marathi is the most widely spoken language and is also the official language of the state. The forest cover in the state is 16.47% of the state's geographical area. Out of total cultivable land in Maharashtra about 60% land is under food grain crops with Jowar being the dominating crop.

Pimpri-Chinchwad is a satellite city of Pune, India. Geographically, it is located at an altitude of 590 m (1,940 ft) above sea level, at a distance of about 15 km (9.3 mi) northwest of Pune. As of the 2011 Census of India Pimpri-Chinchwad was the 18th most populous city in India with an population of 1.7 million. Prashant Damle is a Marathi actor, comedian who has acted in numerous Marathi drama, movie and Soap opera over 35 years. He has been associated with Marathi theatre since 1983 and till date has performed in 27 different plays and a variety of hundreds of roles. Damle is widely recognized as the biggest ultimate superstar of Marathi theatre.

The Marathi people, also rendered as Marathis or Maharashtrian, are an ethnolinguistic group who speak Marathi, an Indo-Aryan language, as their native language. They inhabit the state of Maharashtra in modern India, which was formed as a Marathi-speaking state in 1960 as part of a nationwide linguistic reorganization of the Indian states. Karad City in Maharashtra, India

Karad is a city in Satara district of Indian state of Maharashtra and it is 320 km (180.19 miles) from Mumbai and 159 km from Pune. It lies at the confluence of Koyna River and the Krishna River known as the "Priti sangam". The two rivers originate at Mahabaleshwar, which is around 100 km from Karad. They diverge at their origin, and travel for about the same distance to meet again in Karad. The rivers meet exactly head on, thus forming letter "T" which is the only head on confluence in the world. Hence Krishna and Koyna river's confluence is called Preeti Sangam, meaning Confluence of Love. <i>Kaksparsh</i> 2012 Indian film

Kaksparsh is a 2012 Indian Marathi period drama film directed by Mahesh Manjrekar and produced by Aniruddha Deshpande and Medha Manjrekar. The film stars Sachin Khedekar, Priya Bapat, Medha Manjrekar, Savita Malpekar and Ketaki Mategaonkar. Based on a short story by Usha Datar by the same name, the film depicts the tumultuous events in a Chitpavan Brahmin family, set around 1930–1950 in Konkan. The film was a commercial success and got critical acclaim for its direction, screenplay by Girish Joshi and also for the performances by its actors, especially Khedekar for his portrayal of Hari Damle as a head of the family.

Captain Shivrampant Damle was an Indian educationist. He is best remembered for founding the Maharashtriya Mandal in 1924.

Chandrashekhar Agashe College of Physical Education

Chandrashekhar Agashe College of Physical Education (CACPE) is an Indian autonomous research college based in Gultekdi, Pune, Maharashtra, India. The university specializes in sports and physical education. It was founded on July 1, 1977 by Shivrampant Damle, who began work for its founding in 1938. It was named after Chandrashekhar Agashe. The university is affiliated to the Savitribai Phule Pune University.
