Michael Ray Jones (born April 30, 1965) is an American college basketball coach and former player [1] who is the head coach at UNC Greensboro. Jones' father, Jimmy, was a star guard in the ABA from 1967 to 1974. In 1974, Jimmy Jones signed with the Washington Bullets in the NBA, where he remained until 1977.
Mike Jones spent 10 years as head men's basketball coach at Radford. During his time there, he was named Big South Conference Coach of the Year in 2018 and 2020. [2] [3] While at Radford, Jones coached Javonte Green, Radford's first NBA Player. [4] Green, who went undrafted in 2015, made his NBA debut with the Boston Celtics [5] in 2019 and currently plays for the Chicago Bulls. [6]
In April 2021, Jones was hired to be the head men's basketball coach at UNC Greensboro.

The Boston Celtics are an American professional basketball team based in Boston. The Celtics compete in the National Basketball Association (NBA) as a member of the Atlantic Division of the Eastern Conference. Robert Allen McAdoo Jr. is an American former professional basketball player and coach. He played 14 seasons in the National Basketball Association (NBA), where he was a five-time NBA All-Star and named the NBA Most Valuable Player (MVP) in 1975. He won two NBA championships with the Los Angeles Lakers during their Showtime era in the 1980s. In 2000, McAdoo was inducted into the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame. He was named to the NBA 75th Anniversary Team in 2021.
K. C. Jones was an American professional basketball player and coach. He is best known for his association with the Boston Celtics of the National Basketball Association (NBA), with whom he won 11 of his 12 NBA championships. As a player, he is tied for third for most NBA championships in a career, and is one of three NBA players with an 8–0 record in NBA Finals series. He is the only African-American coach other than Bill Russell to have won multiple NBA championships. Jones was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 1989.

The Radford Highlanders men's basketball represents Radford University in NCAA Division I intercollegiate men's basketball competition. A member of the Big South Conference, their current head coach is Darris Nichols. The Highlanders play at the Dedmon Center, which has a capacity of 3,000. The Highlanders have appeared three times in the NCAA Tournament, most recently in 2018.

Ronald Jordan Hunter is an American professional basketball player for the Greensboro Swarm of the NBA G League. Hunter played college basketball for the Georgia State Panthers under the direction of his father and Georgia State head coach, Ron Hunter. There, he was twice named Sun Belt Player of the Year as well as the Sun Belt Conference Male Athlete of the Year. He holds the school record for most career points with a total of 1,819 after just three seasons of play.

Theophilus Alphonso Pinson is an American professional basketball player for the Texas Legends of the NBA G League. He played college basketball for the North Carolina Tar Heels. A 6 ft 7 in (2.01 m) swingman, Pinson was the starting shooting guard for the Tar Heels' 2017 NCAA championship team.

Carlik Anthony Jones is an American-South Sudanese professional basketball player for the Zhejiang Golden Bulls of the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA). He played college basketball for the Radford Highlanders and the Louisville Cardinals.
The 2021–22 UNC Greensboro Spartans men's basketball team represented the University of North Carolina at Greensboro during the 2021–22 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Spartans, led by first-year head coach Mike Jones, played their home games at the Greensboro Coliseum and Fleming Gymnasium in Greensboro, North Carolina as members of the Southern Conference (SoCon). They finished the season 17–14, 9–9 in SoCon play to finish in a tie for fifth place. As the No. 6 seed in the SoCon tournament, they lost to Samford in the quarterfinals. Guard De'Monte Buckingham was named to the Southern Conference Sports Media Association third team. They accepted an invitation to play in the 2022 College Basketball Invitational tournament where, as a No. 7 seed, they lost to No. 10-seeded Boston University in the first round.
The 2021–22 Big South Conference men's basketball season started non-conference play on November 9, 2021, and began conference play on January 5, 2022. The regular season ended on February 26, 2022, setting up the 2021–22 Big South Conference men's basketball tournament from March 2 to March 6.
