The Montachusett Regional Transit Authority (MART) is a public, nonprofit organization established under Chapter 161B of the Massachusetts General Laws to provide public transportation to the Montachusett Region. MART is one of Massachusetts' 15 regional transit authorities [5] and provides public transportation to 21 communities [6] within the Montachusett region consisting of the cities of Fitchburg, Leominster and Gardner, and the towns of Athol, Ashburnham, Ashby, Ayer, Bolton, Boxborough, Hardwick, Harvard, Hubbardston, Lancaster, Littleton, Lunenburg, Royalston, Shirley, Sterling, Stow, Templeton, Westminster, and Winchendon.

MART provides 16 fixed-route bus services, [7] [8] 2 shuttle services, [9] and paratransit services [10] to the Montachusett Region. MART also operates the parking areas at three MBTA Commuter Rail Fitchburg Line stations at North Leominster, Fitchburg Intermodal Transportation Center, and Wachusett, with local and intercity bus connections to all three stations.

MART has a working collaboration with Fitchburg State University to offer faculty, staff, and students free rides on the Fitchburg/Leominster fixed-route bus line. [11]

MART uses MBTA's Charlie Card smart card fare system. [12] MART provides Monthly Passes, 14-Consecutive Day passes, and Stored Value good for use on any of MART’s fixed-route buses in the region. Stored Value can be used throughout Massachusetts, where the Charlie Card is accepted.

This airport is owned by the City of Fitchburg. The airport also serves as a base for the Fitchburg Pilots Association/EAA chapter 1454. This group uses the airport to host events such as Young Eagles and flights in EAA's Ford Trimotor. The airport underwent a renovation in 2020 that extended runway 14/32 by 500 feet to its current length of 5001 feet. The runway extension was to meet requirements for insurance companies to permit certain small jets to land and take off from the airport. The renovation removed runway 2/20. Occasionally the airport serves as a home for rock festivals such as The Warped Tour and Locobazooka.

The station, which is accessible, has two side platforms to serve the line's two tracks. There is a small freight yard adjacent to the parking lot and mainline tracks on the south end of the inbound platform. A garage opened in 2014 to nearly triple parking capacity at the station, which serves as a park-and-ride stop for Route 2 and I-190, to a total of 436 spaces.

Wachusett station is a commuter rail station on the MBTA Commuter Rail Fitchburg Line. It is northwest of the intersection of Massachusetts Route 2 and Route 31 in Fitchburg, Massachusetts. It serves as the northwestern terminus for Fitchburg Line trains. The opening of Wachusett extended service 4.5 miles (7.2 km) west from Fitchburg on the Pan Am Southern main line, lengthening the Fitchburg Line to 54 miles (87 km). The station is expected to draw 400 daily riders.

Gardner station is a former station stop on the MBTA Commuter Rail Fitchburg Line, located in Gardner, Massachusetts. Passenger service to Union Station ran from 1851 until 1960, and commuter service also briefly ran from 1980 to 1986. Restoration of passenger service was considered in the early 2000s, but was rejected due to low cost-effectiveness.

The Franklin Regional Transit Authority (FRTA) is a regional transit authority which provides public transportation principally to Franklin County and the North Quabbin region, both in Massachusetts. The FRTA is based in the county seat of Greenfield, Massachusetts.
