Nasir Hossain is a first-class and List A cricketer from Bangladesh who played for Sylhet Division between 2002/03 and 2003/04. His best performance was a remarkable spell of 5 for 8, opening the bowling against Chittagong Division in a one-day match in 2002. Chittagong were bowled out for just 30, with Rezaul Haque taking 4 for 20, and Sylhet Division knocked off the runs they needed in just 6.2 overs. The 2010 National Cricket League Twenty20 tournament in Bangladesh, played in April 2010, was the sole edition of a now-defunct Twenty20 league involving the teams in the National Cricket League (NCL). The tournament was initiated by the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB). It included six teams representing the divisions of Bangladesh. It was a limited success and has effectively been replaced by the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL). The tournament was won by the Rajshahi Rangers who defeated the Kings of Khulna by 6 wickets in the final at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Dhaka, the winning team's Qaiser Abbas being named "Man of the Match".

The Dhaka Platoon is a franchise cricket team that plays in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL), representing the country's Dhaka Division. Following the 2015 competition, the Platoon are one of the BPL's seven existing members and are expected to participate in the league's 2019 edition. The team is headquartered at the Sher-e-Bangla Cricket Stadium in Mirpur, and so is one of three teams playing in the city, alongside the Dhaka Division cricket team and Dhaka Metropolis cricket team which are active in first-class cricket.

In October 2015, in his 12th first-class match, he became the first Bangladeshi player to score three double-centuries. He made his Test debut in March 2017.
