Mohammed Nasir Idris (born 6 August[ citation needed ] 1965) is a Nigerian unionist,educationist,politician who serves as the current governor of Kebbi State. He previously served as national president of the Nigerian Union of Teachers and deputy president of the Nigeria Labour Congress. [1] On 17 April 2023,Idris was pronounced winner of the 2023 Kebbi State gubernatorial election by Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). [2] [3]
Nasir Idris was born on the 6 August[ citation needed ] 1965,in Birnin Kebbi local government area of Kebbi State. [4] He attended The Polytechnic Birnin Kebbi between 1994 and 2003,and Usmanu Danfodio University,Sokoto,between 2006 and 2009 for his MBA. [4] Idris holds a PhD in Education and has written various academic papers on education. [5]
In 2018,Idris was elected the president of Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT) as well as the deputy president of Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC). [6] He is a former chairman of NUT,Kebbi State,former chairman of NLC,Kebbi State and former National Treasurer of NUT. [4] In May 2022,Mr. Idris emerged as the Kebbi state All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate at the APC governorship primary election. [7] On 17 April 2023,Idris was declared the winner of the 2023 Kebbi State gubernatorial election by Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). [8]
The 2015 Kogi State Gubernatorial election was held on 21 November 2015 to elect a governor for Kogi State. The last Kogi state gubernatorial election was held in 2011. The incumbent governor,Captain Idris Wada,ran for re-election against the former governor,Prince Abubakar Audu,the candidate of the All Progressives Congress. Kogi State has a different governorship election calendar from other states of the Nigerian Federation. This happened in 2007,when the Appeal Court affirmed annulment of the election of the incumbent,Ibrahim Idris for electoral irregularities and ordered a fresh election in a case filed by Abubakar Audu.

He served as deputy governor of Kano State under Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje from 2018 to 2023.

The 2019 Zamfara State gubernatorial election occurred on 9 March 2019. APC's Mukhtar Shehu Idris polled 67.41% of the total popular votes,defeating PDP's Bello Matawalle who got 23.89% of the total votes and trailed behind by a margin of 345,089 votes,and several minor party candidates. APC swept the entire 14 LGAs of the state,winning in all. It was,however,Matawalle,who was later declared winner by the INEC and sworn in as governor after the verdict of the Supreme Court,which declared Idris' votes as 'wasted'.
