Nasrin Akter Nipun, known by her stage name as Nipun [2] is a Bangladeshi film actress. She was the former general secretary of Bangladesh Film Artistes Association, the organisation of local film artists. She won the National Film Awards twice - Best Actress for Shajghor (2007) and Best Supporting Actress for Chander Moto Bou (2009). [3] As of 2014, she has acted in a total of 35 films including Pitar Ason, Rickshawalar Prem, Praner Shami, and Porichoi . [2]

Background

Akter earned her bachelor's in Computer Science from Moscow State University [4] and she then moved to Los Angeles. [4] She learned Kathak dance in Moscow. [2]

Career

Akter debuted in her acting career in 2006. [3]

Akter acted in the films of West Bengal including Porichoi (2013) with Prosenjit Chatterjee. [2]

In 2017, Akter was elected as an active member of Bangladesh Film Development Corporation. [5]

Akter has been declared as the newly elected General Secretary of the BFAA on Saturday Feb 5, 2022 while her competitor Zayed Khan disqualified by its appellate board. [6] But On 2 March 2022, High court declares Zayed Khan as rightfully-elected general secretary of BFFA. [7] On 21 November 2022, The Appellate Division suspended the High Court verdict. As a result of this order, Akter remained as the general secretary of BFAA. [8]

Personal life

Until 2006, Akter lived in Los Angeles with her husband and a daughter, Tanisha. [2] [9]

Shahid Hasan, known by professionally as Misha Sawdagor, is a Bangladeshi film actor known for playing villains. As of 2020, according to him, he has performed in more than 700 films. He won Bangladesh National Film Awards 3 times for his roles in the films Boss Number One (2011), Olpo Olpo Premer Golpo (2014) and Bir (2020). He first got noticed as a villain in the 1995 film Asha Bhalobasha starring Salman Shah. After Shah's death, he continued playing the villain opposite other actors, but failed to achieve any mainstream success or recognition. From 2006 onwards he started playing the main antagonist in a long string of hit movies starring Shakib Khan in the lead role and mostly Apu Biswas as the lead actress, and established himself as a leading antagonist in the Cinema of Bangladesh.

Coolie is a 1997 Bangladeshi Dhallywood action comedy film, directed by Montazur Rahman Akbar and written by Abdullah Zahir Babu. AK Siddique produced the films under the banner of Flamingo Movies. The film stars Omar Sani and Sadika Parvin Popy leading role with supporting roles played by Amin Khan, Dildar, Humayun Faridi, Dolly Johur and more. The film actress Sadika Parvin Popy started her career with the film. It is a remake of the 1993 Tamil film Chinna Mappillai.

Shakib Khan is a Bangladeshi film actor, producer, occasional singer, film organiser and media personality who works in Bengali films, both in Bangladesh and West Bengal. Khan has prolific career spanning over two decades, during which he has appeared in more than 247 films and described as one of the most successful actors in Bangladesh. Most of his films were commercially and critically successful.

Mujib: The Making of a Nation is a 2023 epic biographical film based on the life of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the founding father and first president of Bangladesh who is popularly known as Bangabandhu. A co-production between Bangladesh and India, the film was directed by Shyam Benegal and stars Arifin Shuvoo in the titular role.

Ferdous Ahmed is a Bangladeshi film actor and producer. He acts in Bangladesh and Indian Bengali films. He won Bangladesh National Film Award for Best Actor 5 times for his roles in the films Hothat Brishti (1998), Gangajatra (2009), Kusum Kusum Prem (2011), Ek Cup Cha (2014) and Putro (2018).

Elina Shammi is a Bangladeshi model, presenter and actress. She made her debut in Shah Alam Kiron's '71 Er Ma Jononi in 2014. Known for her role in the highest grossing Bangladeshi film of all time Priyotoma and Mujib: The Making of a Nation, where she portrayed as Khaleda Zia, the former prime minister of Bangladesh.
